Help on Sewing please
Not quite sure if this is the right place but I guess sewing is OS. A friend has asked if I can help her sew a bag that has come with her Cath Kidston sewing book, but to be honest I have failed at the first hurdle. The second instruction is for a T Junction seam, I have never come across this and from one set of…

What is this meat?
Hi everyone, At the back end of last year I bought a quarter of a cow for the freezer which is just about used up apart from a couple of "joints" which I'm unsure about. They look like belly pork - mostly skin with meat layered underneath. Could anyone suggest what sort of cut it is and the best way to cook it. Thank you

Crème Pâtissière
Just looking at a recipe for this in Gordon Ramseys 'Just Desserts; p195'. It calls for 1 egg and three egg yolks with 75g of sugar, beaten until pale and creamy. Hot milk and cream is then added, and the lot poured back into a pan and simmered gently for 3-4 minutes?????? Huh! I make icecream and this sounds like…

Subsistence cooking equipment
I've been tasked with making a Dead Basics list of cooking equipment for Weezl's subsistence living thread (ie a family of 4 eating for a month for £100) and we feel that our mythical "family" of Bob and Shirley and their two teenagers wouldnt have much in the way of cooking equipment either. So - I'm working out a list of…

Chopping dried apricots on food processor
Hi! I'm trying to make something like this which involves placing dried fruit in a food processor and pulsing to a paste. Every time I had tried to do this the fruit gets stuck on the blades and just whirrs around without getting chopped. I know that Jamie Oliver also has similar recipes and says to pulse dried apricots to…

Homemade salad cream - recipe please
Evening all, I really want to make my own salad cream but can't seem to find a suitable recipe - they all seem really long winded. Making "lasagne" with penne pasta?
I was planning lasagne for tonight but it now seems I've only got enough lasagne for one layer. Is there any reason why I can't just stick in a layer or penne pasta for the second layer without pre-cooking it? I really can't be bothered to go out!
