Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sat 6th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning everyone.

Cold and dry here, little frost.
Everyone is asleep, obviously and the coffee machine is the only thing moving.
Got someone coming early to pick up a rooster I am giving away, so no need to let the hens out yet.
Got a few jobs to do around here later, I think one will be futile and that's get my fishing stuff ready. With a Force 6 East blowing in the channel we are not going to get very far.
Bacon and pancakes for breakfast.
BBQ for later lunch (why not it's sunny and we can eat in the conservatory)
I want to eat up stock from the freezer...

Chill out day with perhaps some FA Cup footy to watch..... Cheers

Hola! N9eav and all who follow:

Keep the weather forecasts coming N9eav we are headed you way the first two weeks of June (after the BH).

Don't know what everyone was up to yesterday, but they must have been busy as the thread was quiet.:D:D

Woke up at 7 am, someone was snoring lol.gif so decided to leave him to it.

Very quiet day yesterday, went to the market but nothing really excited us, bought some spices. May go to the larger one this morning, for a walk if nothing else. Tonight we are going to see a singer in a bar with some neighbours/friends. Checked 3 weather forecasts, two say sun and cloud and 11-12C another says cloud and some rain 13C, wind seems to have died away, I'm going to take the two.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Will just have a nose in the freezer to see what we ae going to use up for dinner today, and start some packing, the clean through starts in the morning.

(((hugs))) where needed - take care all - DG

    Morning everyone.
I am shattered after our busy day yesterday. Went to bed at 9pm  Good job as kids have been up since 6am today
Not sure what's on the agenda today. I should go shopping (but don't want to ;)), do some housework (but again I don't want to ;)), do some ironing and washing (leave that to H ;)). I just want to slob around but I know I'll regret it if I don't do something.

Anyway roast chicken for tea with veggies and lots of gravy :D Need to pull some more leeks and get them washed for tea tonight.

I haven't read yesterdays thread yet so hugs for anyone that needs it.
Have a good day OS or not.

N9eav - enjoy your BBQ. I agree as long as the sun is shining why wait til summer (probably be too wet by then ;))

Donny - hope the sun shines for you today :rotfl:

Good morning all, cold and windy here in north Kent, just put out breakfast for 'Basil' my fairly tame blackbird who visits me first thing in the morning.
Finished up all my ironing and odd sewing jobs last night whilst watching catch-up t.v. I may rustle up some small iced cakes for the cake tin this morning, although DGS Danny is at Pinewood for most of this week, so I may only see him on the odd night this week, as he will drive there from here as public transport would take him ages .He has four long days filming a new t.v. quiz show, 8.00.a.m. start and finishes anytime between 10-11.p.m.at night.(he works as a 'runner' for a t.v. production company)Long days I know but he absolutely loves his job, and hopes eventuallly to be in t.v. production as his career.
Dinner will be at DD's late afternoon as usual. I saw the film 'Lovely Bones' yesterday with my other DGS but I didn't think it did the book justice, as it was a bit 'airy-fairy' The book was very good though.
I am reading a book about Admiral Nelson's daighter at the moment and its very good.
My tutor lent me a book about 'Londons Poor in the 19th Century' by Henry Mayhew and its brilliant, and makes you feel glad that you didn't live in those days.Apparently the difference between the price a dealer (cat's meat man at the knackers yard) would get for a dead horse(eaten often in those days) In France would be around £2-18-00d(£2.90p) and an English one £2.-9-00d (£2.45p) was that in France you could sell the maggots to a chicken dealer for 1/6d a lb. (8p)who would then use them to 'flavour his chickens 'whereas in England the maggots were thrown away. The French really didn't waste anything at all:eek::eek::eek: sorry if its put you off your porridge:rotfl:talking of which I am just off to make mine
    Have a good day everyone

    Morning

Busy days have been catching up with us - I fell asleep early on Friday and DH fell asleep on the sofa last night and slept til 11 which is unheard of for him; he is a bit of an insomiac and never sleeps like that!

Well the disaster that is our life at the moment seems to be giving us a break (although I am waiting to see which leg it picks....) at least for yesterday anyway. I am trying to see the positives and as DH said last night we have each other which is worth all the money in the world

Its our wedding anniversary in a few weeks and i'd booked a premier inn (seen the offer on here - £29 a night) in a nice place on the coast not too far away in the hope that we could maybe get DD minded and quite frankly go and throw some shapes without being disturbed :rotfl: but talking last night DH said he'd rather take her with us than get there and be waiting for a phone call to say she's not settling. Rang the last night and they said just to let the know if she's coing an they'll put an extras bed in the room - no trouble :T

I was intending to relax and do nothing today but I bought DH an xbox game on a MS job yesterday that we found didn't work so that has to go back and we're going to see DH's Dad and pick the kids up from their mums....as usual they will come back shattered having been up til 2 oc'lock in the morning and having not seen soap and water or a hairbrush for the weekend....

I really need to get some batch cooking done as my new freezer is empty! An empty fridge or freezer makes me restless. I am constantly aware that there's nothing in it. Will have to pick a bit of shopping up later.

OK need to meal plan for the week and do shopping list.

    Have a good day x

    Morning all

What a beautiful, if a little frosty, morning!:j:j:j

Wm on with bedding - I normally do it on a saturday but kept it over till today so that I could hang it out on the line to dry as we were promised a lovely day.

Plans for today include a visit to the farmers market this morning (1st and 3rd sundays of the month)

We are also going to a garden centre for inspiration, we are going to one a little further from home than the usual one, as I went there during the week and I want to compare plants, so going to one near Otley, it is a nice ride out too and then going to spend some time in the garden preparing it for spring.

Hope you are all feeling ok, must dash as I want to go to farmers market early as they will be busy this morning with the good weather. This sunshine really does make you feel good doesn't it:D:D:D

Have a great day everyone, will check back in later

    Good Morning All,

Thanks for your kind words yesterday. He is picking DGS up this morning so me and DH are off to the garden centre to give them some space. I think its too much to hope all will be well when we return but you never know.

Early start for me this morning but was in bed and fast asleep for ten last night, and can't seem to lie in as DGS is always up at 6.30. I will definitely be able to sleep in tomorrow when I've got to get up:D

Checked the lottery and still not a millionaire. Oh well will carry on with OS, think I probably would now anyway even if we won. I would be the only millionaire getting 4 meals out of a five pound chicken:rotfl:

Had a really lazy day yesterday and just spent the day catching up on TV as I'd missed '5 days'. Thought it was really good.

Definitely going to make steak and potato pies today and maybe a ginger cake.

DS3 is back from his trip this afternoon so can't wait to see him. Will probably have a bag full of dirty washing but still can't wait:D

Well off for poached egg on toast, then garden centre, then probably have an hour in the garden. Bright and frosty here in Manchester so should be ok as long as we are wrapped up. Cooking this afternoon.

Have a lovely day, hugs to all those who need them and hi to all who come later x

Bright sunshine here :T though it is cold. DS has a football match so will make sure he dresses up warm. OH will be taking him, I hope to pop over at some point.

Didn't get time to post yesterday, popped out in the morning and don't know where the rest of the day went:o

Today am having roast chicken - don't know whether will be for lunch or dinner. DS has a party this afternoon and OH, DD & myself will be popping out somewhere - not sure where yet.

Need to menu plan, write shopping list and get the ironing done.

    Morning all,

Bright and beautiful here today :T I have the bedding in the wm and will hang it out.

I think that might be the extent of my os today, as its my Birthday :o, and we are off out later, and tonight we are having a takeaway of my choice :T, chinese or indian I think.

DD is still in bed, she has a falling out with her young man yesterday, and I think its all off, young love !!!

OH has gone to the boot sale for an hour, gives me a bit of time on here, I think we will do presents when he gets back and dd is up.

We had a nice night last night with the family round to eat, but I am a little bit fragile this morning :o:D, my sis bought me a lovely necklace, and mum bought me a bottle of wine, and a dvd of the time travellers wife :T

Ok better get on and do nothing :D have good days all xx

    Good morning guys,

Beautiful and sunny today allthough it is currently -2 out there. Brrrr!

I got all of my jobs done yesterday except the pennies, so that's one for this afternoon. Just planning on pottering today, I have some fridge magnets to re-glue, a couple of cactii to re-pot, a tidy through and hoover later.

My loo has stopped flushing so that is one that I will have to google and see if I can fix it before I have to get a plumber out. Pouring water down it to flush really doesn't have the same effect at all.

Another one for Roast chicken today and cheese and ham toasties for lunch.

I hope you all ahve a good day and hugs to all who need one.

    Redruby - Happy birthday.
