Singer sewing machines at Lidl!
I just posted this on the Grabbit board but thought OS was a good place for it too. Lidl have Singer Serenade sewing machines for £79.99. It has 8 stitches, looks like a good basic machine for people new to sewing :D The box had several languages on it, so I'd guess the instruction book would be multi-lingual too.

Pudding on TV programme
Did anyone see the programme the other night finding Britain's tightest person? There was a lady who lived in a stately home who cooked a pudding which she said was easy to do and everybody liked it. She turned it out of a pudding basin and it looked chocolatey but had bits in.

whole undyed kipper.. Help!
I bought myself a whole undyed kipper for 24p and a 10p bag of french salad last night at Mr Ts, planning on having it for lunch today, but what do I do with the kipper? lol  I like fish, but if it doesn't come in a plastic bag or need a tin opener, I'm pretty useless at preparing and cooking it myself. :o

Stuffed mushrooms
I've got some big flat mushrooms (10p from tescos :T). Have made a stuffing from breadcrumbs, garlic, S&P, bit of cheese. Question is, do I need to precook the mushrooms, or do I just bung the stuffing on top and shove them in the oven. Can't seem to find any simple recipes like what I'm trying to do. Thanks

Jam, jam, jam....
An abundance of strawbs last weekend, so made a batch of 'normal' jam and been giving away some of it. But, I and the bulk of my family are diabetic, so the masses of sugar in the jam isn't a good thing. I know I'll have a couple more kilos this weekend so don't want them to go to waste. If I use separate pectin sachets,…

I'm just looking for suggestions for recipes, which arent as expensive as buying ready meals, but also aren't as time consuming / mess making as cooking from scratch.(eg chopping onions!) For example a recipe which uses a curry paste, but does not need you to make the curry paste yourself. Or a pasta recipe which uses a…
