I just posted this on the Grabbit board but thought OS was a good place for it too.
Lidl have Singer Serenade sewing machines for £79.99. It has 8 stitches, looks like a good basic machine for people new to sewing
The box had several languages on it, so I'd guess the instruction book would be multi-lingual too.
