Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 7th July! This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Good morning,
It's a wet, rainy one here the gardens will be glad of it
I didn't get chance to post yesterday so I'll go and catch up with the thread in a minute. I'm going to the library & picking up a few bits this morning & cutting my Dad's hair this afternoon (only with clippers I don't have any special talent for hair cutting). Spaghetti Bolognese for tea tonight and I'll make a fruit salad as there's some lovely ripe fruit to use up - nectarines, plums, strawberries, satsumas, grapes, kiwis, apples & pears - I got rather carried away at the greengrocers last week
It'll all be eaten though.
I'll also do the FlyLady list thats posted - must go and check what it is!
Have a good day everyone & stay dry!

Good morning
Have woken this morning with a really sore throat - not quite what I had in mind for my week off .
Also raining here today but does not really matter as we have plenty of decorating and decluttering to do.
OS plans today - cook a large batch of chilli (should have done it two days ago), put BM on and tidy/clean kitchen.
Sistercas - I completely forgot about Torchwood. Thank you for the reminder - am downloading it on iplayer right now.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
Its raining here, nice and sunny but raining , hope it clears up a bit have loads of washing to do.
We took little dog to the vet, and got her sorted, she is on antibiotics, and should start to feel better soon.
Chicken for tea tonight, think I will do it with rice somehow and peas.
Yesterday I had to severly cut back my runner beans, they were alive with black insects  so I had to cut loads off and burn it.I had one long green bean ready, I hope the plant recovers.

Morning Peeps
I`ve just caught up on yesterdays thread as i only managed to log on for a very short time so i missed most of it.
Candygirl - Good luck with your op
Belated anniversary wishes to the Pinks - hope that you had a lovely day.
Tired mum - Hugs to you, some people are just so horrible! i hope that everything works out ok. Are the nasty neighbours renting or do they own their home?
Welcome rnshon :hello:
((((HUGS)))) go to Jayward and NPM - you are both having a tough time atm and i hope that things improve for you both soon.
Welcome back Looby lou
Well i have 3 more days to w*rk before i have twelve days off and i really can`t waitthe house is very disorganised but i hope to have that all sorted before the weekend when our visitors arrive, Monday we will be off on our hols so i hope that the forecast improves
I`ve only managed to get less than 4 hours sleep for the last couple of days but last night i managed almost 5 so i don`t feel as drained today. I think that instead of doing more housework when i get home later i shall have an hour on the sofa as i think that i`m getting a bit run down. I had earache last night and the pain seemed to go all down one side of my neck so i have eardrops in this morning and have a rather attractive piece of cotton wool in my ear
Tea tonight will be pasta and garlic, basil & tomato sauce, i think that strawberries from the garden will be on the menu for desert as there are some lovely big juicy ripe ones in the garden now
Have a good day everyone! catch you all later.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning everyone.
Tried to catch up with yesterdays thread but there was a problem with the site and it was sooooooooo slow i am afraid my tired temper couldn't cope and I logged off. Will have a nose in a mo.
This is my last free day of the week eek! So am dedicating it to cleaning the house. Had a few more appointments crop up this week so it's mega busy, what with prep for christening etc. Finished (nearly) making DD cake yesterday. My mum got very stressed doing it but it looks OK. We've made better ones but I am pretty sure most people will be impressed with what we've done. Considering neither of us are trained and are complete amateurs I think it's rather good.
Weather for Saturday is heavy rain showers. So if it's anything like yesterday it will be terribleWe have 32 people coming and 9 kids so I am panicking that the gazebo in the garden won't be enough to cover everyone etc etc. I am finding all this very stressful for some reason. I MUST try and calm down
Priest came last night to go over the baptism ceremony. He's a lovely man but I was so tired and hungry last night that I wanted him to get to the point and go
Have no idea what's for tea. Meal planning gone out of the window this weekWill have a nose at the plan and see what I've got.
Raining here again. My water butt that I repaired seems to be holding but it's leaning terribly on the stand but it's full so I can't move it.
This week seems to be one big stress, can't wait for it to be over quite frankly.
Anyway I think you've been subjected to enough of my moaning this morning so apologies about that
Have a good day everyone OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Good morning everyone.
Lovely and sunny here at the moment but, thankfully, cooler than last week. BM and WM are on, and the house needs a quick whizz around because we were out for most of the weekend, helping at a friend's car boot sale. It went very well; didn't have chance to buy anything because I was order-taker for the fish and chip van, but it was a great day out.
Dinner tonight is roast chicken, with new potatoes, spinach and carrots; we haven't had a roast for a while. Pudding will be fresh fruit salad - apricots, peaches, cherries and strawberries, with creme fraiche. We get Spanish strawberries here but they cannot compete with British ones, sadly!
Skyped DS2 last night which was great. I'm pretty sure now that DIL2 is having a huge baby - just six weeks until it's born, and only two until she finishes work. They showed me the new pram last night; it's very posh. DS2 is very impressed that it has disc brakes!
Anyway, DH has just left for work, so I'd better crack on with the chores, then settled down to some proper work.
Hope you all have a great day.

Hi all, haven't posted for months on the daily thread (or anywhere much)
Am enjoying winter (in Oz) because I'm not a fan of high temps but wow, Aussie houses are cold! The outside temps aren't really a problem but inside, when you're sitting or in bed etc, it's freezing! Could see my breath in the bedroom when I got up and we have no central heating, just ducted heating which you have to get out of bed to switch on.
Not much OS going on today, caught up with most things over the weekend. Eating the remains of a mud cake I made - very extravagantly I used green and black's maya gold (it was for a special occasion, don't worry) and it was lovely.
Dinner is either toad in the hole, or yorkies and sausages (not sure I'm confident enough to try TITH and worried about it being greasy). I will be making the yorkies with rice milk as OH is dairy intolerant, and am freaking out about it a bit. Anyone ever tried it?
Got some actual tasks to do on the internet instead of surfing MSE for hours as usual - need to register for my silversmithing and book binding courses. I'm also hoping to sign up for a cheese making course, but need my friend to email me details first.
Bitsy would love to photos of the cake!0 -
Morning all :hello:
Had planned on having a lie in but heard the girls rummaging in the five (count em) bags that I filled with stuff for the dump and the charity shop. I caught them red handed trying to liberate a one eared Winnie the Pooh and and book called Baby goes to Nursery.
So now I'm up and coffeed:D. DW and WM on with another load and one hung out to dry.
Gearing up for the holiday now so want to do the dump run today, buy some bits and bobs and clean out the fridge and freezer.
Have pulled a pork fillet out of the freezer for tea so might to pork stroganoff and saute potatoes with more of my own peas.
Sorry little dog is poorly Ruby. x
Welcome back Almo :hello:
Well done to your DD Sistercars. :T
Haribo x0
