eggs & potatoes- lets get our heads together!
Hi all Yesterday I bought a box of eggs & a bag of potatoes, with a view to using them for meals this week. I got to thinking , these are some of the cheapest ingredients - that most people on a budget can afford, and surely the most versatile! What combos can we come up with for these 2 ingreients of kings? I found myself…

Crinkle Blouse
I got a bargain in M & S, a Per Una Crinkle Blouse for £1 in the sale. There was a mark on the back which came out when I washed it. I washed it by hand inside out and squeezed the water out and then tied it in a knot as suggested on the label to retain the crinkle effect. It is 51% cotton and 49% polyester. It has taken…

How to alter clothing at home?
Hi... I've lots of suits at home that are slightly too big for me now, and I was wondering whether anyone knew how to alter waistbands on trousers and shortening the length of jacket sleeves. It seems such a shame to have to go and spend a fortune buying more suits. Have looked on the web but can't seem to find any sites…

How to replace eggs with soya flour in baking?
We have run out of eggs and DD wants to make muffins. I am sure I have read in the Tightwad Gazette that you can replace an egg in baking with soya flour (which we do have) and water? oil? I can't find the details in the TG as it has no index and I haven't had any luck looking through it. Any help gratefully received. L x

Irrational fear of empty cupboards
Due to an upbringing where the earner of the family worked 9 months of the year and then had no work an no benefits for 3 months of the year and the budget did not allow for saving for this, I grew up with good store supboards being a way of life. My cupboards are full to bulging but I will still nip out to the shops for…
