OS Daily Sat 09 Sept

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 9th Sept. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good Morning all! (well, barely!) And its Sunday!
Woke up a while ago and tried to go back to sleep, but couldn't. Have now found out we do 'break wind' in our sleep - my DH has just done so (silent but deadly) and I had to vacate the bedroom due to the smell.....................
He isn't allowed to have wine 2 nights in a row anymore.............
I was right about dinner not being 'diet' food. It was lamb shepherd's pie, with a cheese fondue - heavy on the cheese, and boiled veg (corn, broc + cauli) .............. and fruit tart for dessert. Also had tea and limited myself to 1 chocolate. The company was wonderful, and their son played piano for us after dinner so it was a good night!
I never complain about what is put in front of me when I am a guest. However, as I used to be a chef, it make people nervous about cooking for me, and it shows in the meals. It makes me uncomfortable because they keep telling me how nerve-racking it is to cook for me - I'm a good cook, but I'm no Gordon Ramsey! I never put down anyone's cooking. And none of our friends are that bad a cook that the food is inedible.
It is frustrating because I like to go to a friend's for dinner, but we don't do that very often as they aren't sure I'll like what they cook, or they figure they can't cook well enough for me. And it's nice to have someone over for dinner and then have it reciprocated.
((((HUGS))))) are in the corner if anyone needs one......
Not sure what we are having today, possibly soup for lunch..........

Go in wake him up, by the time he has fallen asleep again you can be asleep. Then you dont have to try to sleep through the snoring:rotfl: Proud to be dealing with my debts:rotfl:Total Debt £32K due to be debt free July 2019Sept Grocery Challenge £175Spent so far £[strike]15[/strike]£93.50Xmas £2 Challenge £50So Far [strike]£4[/strike] £6Sept PMS Challenge £30£1.91Savings BankedNot yet but account is ready0

Isn't it Sunday the 9th.
I'm off to bed, sat and drank wine with OH, and listened to Ella Fitzgerald."Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does, except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place." — Abigail Van Buren0 -
Good morning everyone!
Had a great day yesterday. Met up with a lovely Old Styler, then took DD to an exhibition of 19th and 20th century fashion. Didn't get home until late, but DH had prepared spaghetti, and had a couple of glasses of rose. DS is away at Scout camp, so DD chose the movie, and we watched I Capture the Castle. We've both read and loved the book (by Dodie Smith, of 101 Dalmations), and the film was very true to it. DD has taken it down to re-read (it's about a girl becoming a woman, so she'll see more relevance now at 14, than when she was 10.
Making soup and bread rolls for lunch. There'll probably be room in the oven for a chocolate cake, tooSeeing as the weather is so lovely, will spend some time in the garden. We have a builder coming next month to lay a patio, and chose the slabs yesterday. Need to do some more clearing in preparation for that.
Hope you all like my new avatar. Plenty of muffins for everyone
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
