Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 8th Sept. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Well, this is a first for me. Been asleep since about 10 pm last night so hope this counts as starting off the thread.
Really tired but can't sleep now what with ill babies etc and what is in front of me tomorrow. Have just put on some more washing. I think the last few days catching up with me.
Probably won't get a chance to see what everyone doing until Monday and off now to track some things I am watching on ebay. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Morning grannybroon and all to follow,
GB, I'm sorry that you wakened so early....I hope you manage to get some sleep soon.
I haven't managed to post much this week because I've been up to my eyes both with work and getting back to a routine with the children.
I'm not long home from work and I'm working again on Saturday and Sunday so much of the Old Styling in our house this weekend will be done by Mr Pink. Thankfully he's very good at it.
Yesterday I took the little one blackberrying and between us we managed to pick three pounds, I had no time to make anything with them before going to work, so we washed them and popped them into the freezer until we do.
I have a few hours off in the afternoon later today so I hope to spend some time doing some bulk cooking because we are a bit low on 'ready meals' in the freezer...I've got some lovely steak mince from the butcher, so hopefully by this this evening I'll have lots of bolognese chilli, and savoury mince based meals in the freezer.
Just as an aside, there's a thread on the Greenfingered board about men's urine being good for plants, so I lightheartedly suggested (separately) to Mr Pink and eldest Master Pink that they could 'donate' their waste for the garden....both of them first looked at me as though I was bonkers, then thought about it for a while and replied, "how much will you pay me?" I think they must have been reading this website
Take care everyone and I hope you have a good day.

Hopefully I'll be joining you lot very soon coz I think DBelle's thread has given me the impetus to cook the frozen chicken I've had in the freezer for the past month

I'm going to my db's for the weekend so I hope I still feel as inspired on Monday

Good morning!
Never made it to the first page before, but I haven't been to bed yet...think its nearly time now though.
Granny, hope that you get some more sleep, deep breaths, eyes open and keep saying to yourself...I mustn't go asleep...works for me most times.
Am re-reading Bleak House as DD4 has been reading it for college and am finding it much more interesting than I did 45 years ago...wonder if that means that my judgement has improved or that I now lead a much sadder life than I did in 1962...don't really want to think about the answer.
Pink, sleep well or you'll never manage all that cooking...how much per litre are you prepared to pay the men in your house for enhancing the compost?
Hugs to all in need

Good morning GB, Pink winged, Mics-chick, meanmarie and all to follow.
I have just completed a 14 and a half hour day at work and got home at 10pm and having bathed, pottered and caught up with the latest news am not far off my bed.
OH is now on a permament sickie until the op and the GP has ordered some bloods, probably due to the 80mg furosemide he is having to take twice a day. He is still very chesty and the inhaler is not doing much to curb his cough. He is ok in himself though and is pretty upbeat at the moment.
Os wise - zero, zilch, denada today  but hey - I now only have 4 more of these long days left before the time I owe work is paid back and that is pretty much the easiest debt I have tackled  so I am not complaining.
This weekend - will involve trying to keep the house in order as I am on two lates (bonus being not too much of a pigsty on Monday - my day off) and a freezer inventory as my well ordered shelves are all over the place. I have spotted a tub of bologneise sauce in there so that can be tea tonight for them with some pasta and possibly some lamb chops for Sunday. LOL - bless OH he always plates one up for me when he cooks tea so we all benefit from a batch cook.
Pink, Have you heard that some people also drink their own urine for it's beauty benefits?   I seem to remember an article on the web last year advocating it. The phrase body, over and dead springs to mind. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
of you in need today.
See you,

Goodmorning everybody,
Just thought I'd come on here before I start the painting and lo and behold it's nearly on the second page.
Hope you all get back to sleep. Sunny day here today but rained during the night. Washing blowing on the line. Had smoko and just going to start the painting. After lunch I hope to go and pull weeds out the yard.
I've never heard of slapped cheek before either. Maybe it's a scottish thing from too much kilt wearing.
Well I better go and start. (((hugs))) & nite nite ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Yes smoky, I heard that recently....I think that I'd rather stay ugly! Glad that your oh is in good form, I can't imagine what you've all been through in these last months.
Ellie, last year I made blackberry/blackberry and apple jellies. They were great and everyone loved them. I used thriftlady's method that she posted here. I didn't have a jelly bag but used a (new) pair of stockings and a coathanger and it worked well.
meanmarie, would 10p a litre be too much do you think??:D

Been ages since i posted on the daily thread.. seems everyone's up late tonight!!
amongst all the usual stuff I microwaved some flowers today from the garden, in a makeshift microwave press. both my grandmothers have their birthdays in september so i have to make some cards for them, and some dried flower cards would be pretty (and moneysaving). that worked quite well. i'll be doing that more from now on i think.
tomorrow i'm dashing up to Ashton. Want to see if i can find some of these microdots (sticky glue dots) from the card shop and some other stuff (more cheaply) before i order it from Lakeland. got to get some fruit and veg from the market as well, and some garlic bread and frozen veg from iceland. maybe some folders from Wilkos. we'll see.
Of course, tomorrow being Caturday it also means bacon and egg butties for breakfast and garlic bread/pizza for tea. Not that we're creatures of habit. oh no
hope everyone has a good day!

Oh no, I just typed a really long post but I forgot to tick the 'remember me' thing when I logged in, it logged me out and I lost it all  I wanted to tell you about some stuff.
Quick version - been up since 2.30am. First thing I thought of - other people's problems. This has been happening for months.
I do all my card making in the lounge, I keep work out of the bedroom cos it should be a place to relax (n stuff LOL). I don't want to sell cards that smell of food
so I can't use the kitchen, that leaves the lounge. Our windows open into the room so I can't put nets or blinds up, I wouldn't be able to open the window. I seem to be considered an agony aunt (and mr tru is apparantly an agony uncle), if someone's phoned and I've ignored them (caller ID), they drive round  and as I'm in the lounge a lot I can't ignore them. If I do, they bang on the window with a big grin on their face and they know I've seen them.
I didn't realise how much it affected me til yesterday, me and mr tru were talking (about us for a change, we were wondering where the 'us' had gone), I burst into tears while we were out, mr tru got me coffee and we parked by the canal for a while. Bottom line (don't want to bore you lol) is, he's going to tell everyone to sod off (in a nice way). If it carries on, he's going to tell everyone to sod off (in a very nasty way).
I've put a bit of weight on, I'm sure it's because of how things have been lately, I think I might have been using food to switch off or something
I have 57 loads of washing to do - oh OK, 4 loads
Might put the washer on in a mo, it'll all be done by the time the other trus surface. Got some ironing to do too, then I'll be watching Grey's Anatomy - I recorded it the other night.
JackieO you're very inspiring, will you be my second mum?
