DH has been clearing some more stuff from my Dad's flat so made him salmon, new potatoes with home grown mint from the garden, and cauli cheese.
Had strawberries and ice cream to follow.
DDs are in Edinburgh for the day so they should be shattered when they finally get home.
Have been looking wistfully at le Creuset cast iron pans for ages but they cost a fortune - went on Amazon and they have a 50 per cent sale on lots of stuff - including a Le Creuset 18cm casserole pot - should have been about £58 and I got it for £27 and free delivery!
Just hope DH is out when it is delivered as he does not want the house cluttered up with stuff when we are trying to sell it!
Have also ordered some books for DD(13) from thebookpeople - they have some books at two for £5 or three for £6 - that should originally have been around £6 each. Will hide some away as birthday presents for her friends.
Just wish we could hurry up and exchange contracts on my Dad's flat and get our house sold."This site is addictive!"

Hi,
Catowen congratulations on your wine and Wii and also the OU course, glad your luck is changing.
Kyle Hope you're feeling better today, I've seen a few children at school with slapped cheek syndrome and it's a horrible virus, take care of yourself.
Today has been quite a productive day as we managed to get DD2's sax fixed (free-nice bloke in shop), got a tyre fixed (free-DH's mate fixed it), took kids swimming, did the washing and got it dried on the line and did all of the ironing. :j
Tonight's tea was lasagne, potato wedges, carrots, followed by butterscotch angel delight with strawberry smoothies. I'm so stuffed after all of that but it was a lovely healthy hm meal, well apart from the angel delight.
Right I'm off to watch the tv, have a good evening.0 -
Hi folks

I have been very pleased with my new HM yoghurt, just made in a flask, I'm going to add some of my HM elderberry cordal that I made last week (that was hard work) and serve for tea.
However,
fuming at dd and ds who don't even seem to understand what a tidy room is like and have expected me to stand over them saying "that shouldn't be on the floor, put it away", so it has taken me all day to get them to do it. Now they are asking when tea is ready so I'm staying on here til I feeeel like doing it!earn what you can, save what you can, give what you can :hello:0 -

just back from a lovely day out. dd's bike shopping went like a dream - it is ironically called a raleigh freeride but at £169.00 it was a teensy bit over budget. This is more or less an adult bike though and shoud last her a while - the saddle is more or less at it's lowest point so loads of growing room left. With a new helmet and luggage rack thingy I am £210 worse off in terms of money but heaps better off in terms of kidlove - long may it last. We then caght the train from twickenham to chiswick (very very busy - forgot that the police are in concert tonight) and went to eldest dd's. I had left my phone behind and forgot where she lives but after cycling around for a bit little dd recognised her block. After that we cycled to putney along the river and came back on the train, stopping on the way to see middle dd and dgs. Exhausted and house is a tip so wil lhave a cup of tea and then get on.
have a great eveningI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Hello OS'ers...My first daily post

Hugs to all who need them xxxx
Well I've been quite proud of myself the past couple of days - whipped up some cookies and muffins yesterday (thanks to recipies from here  ) and my little sister actually called me today to say how yummy they were (aww bless!). I'm fairly new to OS - been cooking for the family for less than a month, so it's a steap learning curve lol.
Me and mum had an expidition today to our local town, we trawled through all the charity shops - she got a brand new dress for £4.99 and I got a wicked wok book for £2.99 - just what I've been looking for! I also got one of those heat pack things for £1.99 so well chuffed.
We finally got round to visiting our butchers/greengrocers/farm shop and have not only decided that we're going to use the farm shop as much as possible - but they have a vacancy, so lil sis is going to apply
We were amazed at the difference in price - and it's only round the corner, so also more green. Just working on my parents buying me my very own 'wally trolley' for my birthday
Went on our weekly shop too - now mum's gotta teach me how to make pastry lol. Proud DFW Nerd 135 :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge - 0190 -
Evening all,
I am not planning on being here when tomorrows thread starts, seems like two days instead of one since then.
Slept late but have been busy since...am knitting for Christmas in between being on here and doing other things. Made pizza for dinner, turned out well, baked some apples and had with yoghurt for pudding. While I was in the kitchen I made some brown bread, rolls and an eggless chocolate cake...think I baked it for too long as it was a bit hard...didn't time properly so that is probably what happened.
After dinner made it to garden...just watered stuff in pots...have no idea how many we have seems like thousands, 100 is more likely nearer the correct number.
Going to visit my Japanese friend who lives in Longford, haven't seen her new house yet...she is now 25 weeks pregnant and wanted to move somewhere she would not be sharing a house so that she could get settled in before the baby arrives. I am trying to persuade her that she should come to Dublin to have baby...don't fancy having to drive for a couple of hours in middle of a winter's night to take her to hospital, especially around Christmas when every lunatic alive is on the road. We'll see what happens to-morrow.
Welcome Laurajane, you seem to be getting the idea very quickly.
Pink...I would pitch the price a little lower tbh, maybe 6p would be enough, otherwise output might exceed demand and where would you be then??
Wishing you all a relaxing weekend

Brain definitely in a fuzz....Penpin...I am sure that you will make the best decision for your family...if you feel that you want to give it a go it might be worth that...you can always resign if you find it to be too much...good luck with your decision and congratulations on getting the offer, that in itself is a bit of a boost.
Ellie...I want that dog! He/she is beautiful..had to have mine put to sleep last November and that is the first time I have felt that maybe I might think of another venture...Age? whose age? Its all in the mind my dear, and the older you get there is less room in the mind so I don't feel it matters..mind you I caught a glimpse of my mother ( who died in 1994) in the hall mirror today so maybe we just metamorphosise at some stage...shut up Marie, you are waffling even more than usual
Night all
