Morning everyone.
PenPen. You're a star. :A That's just the kind of Old Style comfort food I expect when I log onto the daily thread.
I had a late night and an early start but this is the first chance I've had to sit down.
Kitchen is cleaned, second wash on and DW unloaded and refilled.
Pea and ham soup went down a storm last night and I was hoping to freeze the left overs but it's been requested for lunch again today so I have a poppy seed loaf in the BM to go with it.
Tea tonight will be omlettes courtesy of Mr Haribo, hopefully made with the mushrooms we can gather later on. We know a spot where we get amazing chantarelles, oyster mushrooms and ceps every year and as it's not up a hill I can go and join in too.
We really are behind with our blackberries up here so we're still waiting for those.
OH has a lot of work to do from home today so I have promised the girls a trip to the chocolate factory for hot choc and muffins. :j
I need to [strike]get OH to[/strike] build the new composter today as the old one and the wormery are full so that's another job (for him.) Pink and Pen Pen... Getting OH to piddle into it is one thing but I'm not sure about clambering on top and hovering myself.:o Loathe as I am to admit it there are just some things that men are better at.
Other than that it's just the same old same old and I will probably flake out in the middle of my omlette.
Have a great Saturday everyone.
Haribo x
Nice to see you Kethry
Welcome Mics_Chik
Lots of love to the Smokey household
PS... reading through my post it seems to be very food centric.
But to be honest I think that's what I love most about daily thread and OS in general. Hope no one thinks I'm trying to sabotage all their dieting efforts.
PPS....Aussie....you're thinking about the wrong cheeks my dear.

Morning all
I'm joining pp's challenge ..... scoff scoff .... mmmmmm very nice. Good luck to all of you on Frogga's list
After years of struggling with it me and food have come to an understanding - if my work trousers are too tight then I go easy on the biscuits until they fit again. We eat pretty healthily so I guess I'm more or less the wieght I'm meant to be.
I am mostly going to be hiding from family this week - luckily they are mostly abroad but .... my dbro in NZ sent me an email about my mum which I think he meant to send privately but has gone onto the family web page for all to see  Only my dsis in canada actually speaks to her due to some of the issues that dbro has mentioned in his post - double  but she has access to the site and will no doubt see it. I have tried to remove it but don't have admin rights and in any case an email has gone out to all members. There will be flurries of emails and ims for the rest of the week I should think. We are all in different time zones so this is the way we ussually communicate:D
Plans for the day are to get dd's bike - fingers crossed that we find the right one - and then meet eldest dd for picnic by the river and then home ofr tea - egg curry folowed by rhubarb pie - yum
have a good dayI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Good Morning all!
Well, last night's dinner was a success; didn't do a starter, but we have pork fillet medailoins in mushroom sauce, roasted new potatoes, chard + carrots, a little is left over for lunch today for DH. Dessert was apple crumble and cream. I tried 3 times to make custard - twice with milk, sugar eggs, vanilla, and both curdled.......... then later with birds - and I burned it............. so we had cream with it. Good thing I had cream in the fridge. Had it been other friends, I wouldn't have even bothered with custard or cream but offered yogurt. And 2 bottles of wine...... I had apple juice, I dont' drink.
Not a 'frogga challenge' meal...... and I bet tonights isn't either, we are off to a friends house for dinner - they are driving us home and DH is doing a shop for my canning this week as he can't carry it all on the bike. So I'll be canning while he is away cause my jars are arriving on Monday - 144 8oz and 60 12oz jars and lids + extra lids.
I an trying, but as I can't exersise its hard.......... I've got stock in the fridge for soups for lunch, and I'm going veggie while DH is gone... I've got a fridge full of veg as well!0 -

Hi!
Been missing for few days as been busy with boring jobcentre/council meetings etc and also still suffering with morning sickness. Eugh. Should be at an OU tutorial today but im toooooo sick and dont wanna chance either vomitting or passing out infront of a room of strangers!!:o Just hope my tutor understands.
Had a pretty uneventful week, have managed some OSing though. Baked a gorgeous walnut and sultana cake on monday! Yum!
Then on tuesday i got an asda shop delivered which should provide me with enough "main meals" to last me all month if i use up whats in the freezer.:D
Id ordered a gammon joint for the first time too.. thought id try using that instead of ham. Was much delighted when it arrived as it had to be substituted.. so instead of a 1kg joint for £4.16 like i expected i got a 1.9kg joint which should have been nearly £7... but for the £4.16 on the price match thing!! :j So i cut it in half and froze half for a later date
Then boiled it up and Mmmmmm!! Forgot how good it tastes and im much happier to pay that than pay for my usual watery shop bought ham. My joint worked out at just over £2 a kilo compared to £10 a kilo for the "nice" shop bought ham id have bought as an alternative.
Got a nasty shock yesterday, had to go out about 9am.. and when i come home and went to go the bathroom there was a dead mouse under the bath!!:eek: Ive got the end bath panel off cos we havent finished work in there yet so was no point putting it back and i HAD spotted a mouse about 2 month ago coming out from under there so id laid a trap which i check every morning. Well i screamed and rang my mum (who had only just left mine) to come back and dispose of it........ I can lay the traps but cant deal with the consequences
:rotfl: So now im on edge again as i know "they" are about again.... and this time in the daytime!! eek!! Thats now about 6 or 7th one weve caught since about april.
Today will be spent resting i think as im sooo tired and feeling poorly. Im contemplating starting some xmas cards.... got loads of peel offs last year i didnt use and havent done my card making for ages.:santa2:
Need to finalise what i actually want for my birthday too. Its my 22nd and my last one NOT being a mum so i didnt want practical things.. (plus i had a pretty rubbish 21st so wanted this one to be special) But i cant think of anything that isnt practical - *must resist asking for digital kitchen scales* - so far have just asked for nice perfume, someone to pay for my hair to be cut and pointed out a necklace to OH yesterday in the jewellers on an impulse cos he was moaning that i hadnt showed him anything to get me yet so sorta went "erm thats nice" and he was like "ok" Romance and surprises fill our relationship cant ya tell???!! :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon All
Has a lazy morning, the only thing I've actually done is a trip to my dads. This afternoon I need to get on and do a load of washing and go to the shops, I need a birthday present, some shopping and several cards all with the £19 in my purse. Hope I can do it. Tonight DH is going out with friends so I'm going to have a pamper session to keep me away from the biscuit tin.
On that note I'm off to have a some lunch. Have a good day everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -

Hi All
I was beginning to think I'd never get on to the daily thread again.
Well done & good luck to all those on Frogga's challenge.
Yummy baking pics, pen pen, that's my sort of diet.
Pen pin, hugs & I'm sure you'll make the right decision.
Hugs to GB any any one else who wants one.
I have hardly been online at all, I can't access MSE from work & I can't prise the lodger of the pc, the only time she's not on the pc, she's on the phone.
I've spent all last week trying to get a bank account sorted for her, I'm annoyed, not with her, but with the agency she works for who have given her no help, it's very difficult to open a bank account with only a Jamaican passport as ID.
She's now asking if she can have her own phone line fitted, but I'm not sure, I can see her moving out & leaving me with the bill.
I'm looking into a wireless connection, maybe then she could use her laptop instead of my pc all the time, I'll phone my son for some advice, he work as a sys ad, so may be able to help.
She also was/is a distributer for one of the pyramid selling companies, I'm not naming them as I don't want to get flamed, but it seems to be part selling part religion. She won't eat dairy food as she believes it is a form of poison, but she eats 5oz's of cheese for breakfast every morning. She won't eat 'irish' potatoes, which I think means 'new' she is cheap to feed as apart from buying cheese & soya milk, she lives on herbal teas & supplements. Hubby & are are getting a regular diet of quasi religious saying from her about how we live our lives. She wanted her 4 friends to stay every weekend, but I explained we were not happy with that, but she is welcome to stay with them. We've also worked out then when she thought she was staying in Nottingham, she was in fact in Croyden.
As hubby said to me last night 'We don't half get some gooduns'.
Hubby & I are going away this weekend to make up for the weekend we missed out on, but we're not telling her we're away overnight as I don't want to come home & find the house full of her friends.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Hester
