Hi all
I went into chinatown this afternoon and bought a few bargains! One of which was a large jar of dried sliced shallots. ( 39p!!!)
Thought this might come in handy, but all trhe intructions are in chinese !
Anyone know how Id use these, eg, would I put them in sauces as they are, or do they need to be soaked first?

I have a vat of these, you can use them in sauces, soups, stews etc. You don't need to dry them if you are using them in something wet (like sauces). You are supposed to be able to use them in salads or marinades but I've never tried them, so not sure if you would soak them for that purpose.
I think soaking them would be belt and braces if you are using them in liquid, so no need really

I use them as crispy salad toppings straight out the tub. I've never tried cooking with them!2009 winnings: private box at the ballet, a cooking lesson with Jean Christophe Novelli, a case of wine, £25 itunes downloads, a candle, Football Manager PC game, a lipstick, £2500
