I was reading all the threads the other day about freezing food - I know what you can and can't freeze, but somehow feel unsure still. The threads are really good, but everyone was saying how good this book is....so guess what I found in the charity shop two doors down from where I work.....yup - St Michaels Freezer Book,…

Out of curiosity when doing meals like, spaghetti Bolognese, Cottage Pie how much Mince do you use. We use 500g of mince for 2 Adults and 2 kids (3yo and 22mths) Am trying to lose weight and trying to cut cost but can't seem to get below £60-£70 per week. So wondering whether we are actually eating too much?! Thanks

Using up carraway seeds?
I've been doing a cupboard clearout and it was the turn of the herbs & spices shelf last night. As well as 3 jars of ground cumin (1 for me, 1 to the neighbours on each side!), I found a jar of carraway seeds that I must have bought for a fancy recipe at some point in the past. There must only be a couple of tsps at most…

What makes my carpet smell fresh?
I usually use Shake n Vac. Having just bought a Bissell Lift off I used it and a fine white powder came through the back filter. After phoning CS they told me that I shouldn't use Shak n Vac as it can cause problems with the filters and damage them. So... What can I use on my carpets before vacuuming, that will make them…

Hens in cold climates
I'm from Australia originally and grew up on a farm there. We usually had some chickens and hence I have a pretty good idea of how to care for them. My problem now is that I have moved to Sweden which is a totally different environment. This has caused me many challenges (not the least of which is figuring out how to get…

OS Jobs
I was wondering if there's anyone on here who does what may be deemed as OS jobs - seasonal fruit picking, turkey plucking and that kind of thing? I often see ads for them, and wonder if they're a good way to earn a little bit of extra cash. Any thoughts?
