OS Christmas Pressie
Looking for a bird feeder (pressie from my mum) I spotted this special offer. It is a 20kilo bag of quality bird seed mix for £18 + £1.99 p&p, on special offer. Usual price £28. I thought it would be a good pressie put into nice bags or even cheap feeders. Dividing it into kilo portions makes 20 gifts at just over £1.…

C/Heating in winter and what temperature?
Right, as it seems cold now i've been thinking about winter and the central heating. How long do you have your heating on in the day & evening in winter and what temperature do you set your thermostat to? If you have thermostatic values on your radiators, do you set them lower in your bedrooms and hall than the rest of the…

Throw your ideas at me, please!
Hello, Well, this is my first week of trying to meal-plan, but I have a dilemma that is kinda holding me back: Our cooker needs replacing, and until we can afford it, I have no oven to use. It has stopped 'turning down' - you can have it on number 9, turn it down to number 2, but nothing happens. The flame doesn't go down,…

Five OS Pleasures in your day today
1) Seeing all my homemade preserves lined up on their shelf in the garage. They look as good as a stained glass window. 2) The smell of my laundry as I took it off the line, best smell in the world. 3) Taking a batch of muffins out of the oven. 4) Coming back from Tesco without any extras even though the kids were with me.…

I've got 2 microfibre cloths, one for dusting, and one for cleaning the kitchen. Polish Cucumber Soup
Over the summer I spent some time with friends in Poland. One of the nicest parts of staying with a family is experiencing the country from the inside. I love it there. Now although I speak NO Polish at all, my friends speak some English and we manage fine with communication in general. However, some of the specifics are…
