OS Daily Tuesday 21st August 2007

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 20th August 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Well its 2.45 and so far sleep has evaded me, so I have just made cuppa and decided to open the daily, not that I have much to say. The wind is getting up, but hopefully not to the same extent as in the West Indies just now, last I saw hurricane Dennis was heading towards Mexico........speechless-smiley-040.gif I feel so much for holiday makers who are now faced with having to ride out the storm. One couple on the news last night were on their honeymoon, its to be hoped that is not shades of things to come in their marriage!!!!

Greetings to all who follow.............(((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) if you need one..............see y'all later.
September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

  • Well at least someone else is in the same boat as me although I have been asleep but woke up at 2.50 and gave up tossing and turning at 4.00 !!!!

So now 1 load of washing is on and hopefully after a cup of tea and a few minutes sending everyone greetings here I will feel sleepy again and go back to bed.

Oh is peacefully asleep. It is our wedding anniversary today - 31 years. Where does the time go. It seems in many ways like only yesterday but also another lifetime ago.

So we are going to finish a project today- a very red wall in our kitchen then off to friends for a meal this evening. Only 7 days till Oh retires- Can't wait even though I know that will bring its own challenges.

Well I hope evryone who comes later has a happy day if you are celebrating and a gentle one if you are sad or poorly

Not posted on this thread before, but glad to see I'm not the only one up so thought I'd say hi!

scubaleopard ~ Congrats on your wedding anniversary. 31 years wow! If you've stayed together this long I'm sure you will get on fine when OH retires and you will have lots of pleasant 'couple time'.

I need to pop into town today, got a couple of things to post, and a bill to pay. I hate going in town as it's always an ordeal and I'd rather avoid it.
I also have a lot of housework that needs doing today (joy!) and the fish to clean out. Poochie will be begging for walkies later on too.

Morning. Managed a few minutes on today before off to work. Things are calming down somewhat and I have a few days off starting tomorrow.
Sold 14 of my 18 things on e-bay, so that was handy. Just got to pack and post them all now....

Hope everyone is well. Must dash,

    morning all.

it a dull grey day here and i can see some rain on the window. gorgeous.

i got 5 loads of washing done yesterday and it has all dried and put away. so laundry basket empty. which is good as it broke yesterday.

might venture into town today as need to so some banking.

have no idea for meals today as were low on a few things, so it just pick and mix at the mo.

got to parcel up a couple of ebay items .

going to have a major de-clutter starting this week. and chairty alot. i am finding ebay is working out quite expensive to sell. it great for bargins to buy but not as good for the seller as it used to be.

i also might try the picked eggs today if i can get some jars. hows exciting.
  • Good morning, up early here too. Might put a few bits up on ebay myself; gave up as things werent' selling but you never know. My DH doesnt' like to relist if it doesn't sell; I can convince him to put things on twice but no more than that.

Lamb Tagine last night was very good; only realized it was on for 3 hours, tho, not the 1 1/2 it should have been - DH got home late. Going to have sourdough pancakes for dinner tonight.

(((HUGS)) for those who need them.

    Happy 31st anniversary to Scubaleopard!

Morning all. Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs Scubaleopard - have a brilliant day! And welcome to X_raphael_xx! You'll enjoy it here!

JACKIEO - so glad you're progressing so well. We certainly missed you on here! 'Lovely bum' must have had a lovely one for you to comment on it!

Commiserations to all those who have not slept well - me included!

I have had very little time on here lately due to DH waiting for work to pick up again. The good news is that we have just sold a piece of land attached to our house in France - it was DH who recognised the opportunity a couple of years ago but it has taken so long to get planning permission for it and to get through the exceedingly tedious French red tape; we had advertised it with various estate agents over there but they're as slow as everyone else. In the end we put it on eBay, had five genuine enquiries and sold it to a lovely English couple who are going to build a house on it. So, it takes the financial pressure off us for now and he'll be able to spend more time out there working on the house. We have two more possible building plots there so we are just applying for planning permission on the next one - fortunately, the local mayor there is all for regenerating the area and welcoming new people If we are successful, it will mean that the house will have cost us nothing and we'll have made a profit and it's just the sort of project my DH loves to get his teeth into! I must admit, he is brilliant at finding opportunities like this but it's a bit hairy waiting for the results! It means our income is somewhat erratic!

I must also thank whoever it was who told me about AQA - I feel so rude because I can't remember who it was but would like them to know that I was accepted by them and have been working - quite lucratively! - for the last six weeks. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I'm just so sorry I can't remember who it was but I am very grateful!

Well, the weather is looking gloomy - again! I was so cold yesterday, I even put the heating on in the evening.

Well, off to have a shower now. I have some ironing to do today and some paperwork to file - the paperwork is so never-ending these days. I just clear up one lot and the postman comes and brings some more! I remember someone years ago telling us that the computer would bring the 'paperless' era but I see no sign of that for a long time. We just seem to get more and more!

Anyway, hope everyone has a brilliant day - will drop in later.

    Morning All

Had a bit of sleep when I got home yesterday. Was confined to the bedroom, as Mum had had the sofa/carpet cleaning man in, so everything was wet.

Found myself in bed at 8pm, with the Studio Christmas book:xmassmile :rudolf: Seen some little mini sacks which I'm going to get to present some presents in

There'd been an accident on my usual trek into work, so I had to go the LONG way in, which I wasn't happy about.

Doing a market research thingy this evening - bit of extra cash:T

Pleased to see I've got back up to a pound on archerfish. Hasn't taken that long really, especially as I missed doing it for three weeks when I was off work sick.

Feeling quite drained after yesterday. It was long hours and doing two people's work all on my own, which wasn't fun. Hoping to get out of here on time today so I can have a kip before going out this evening.

    Hope everyone's ok

Happy birthday/anniversary to those celebrating and Frogga have fun in London

  • Morning Guys!

Another bad night for me, but just wanted to say hello.

Have a washload that needs to go on in a bit and the toilet has been scrubbed.

Think we are just staying in today as weather gloomy and cold. OH is washing the car and cleaning the inside. DD is revising some school work we have set her and there are a few other small bits to do.

Have had a few replies to the advert now, which is great. Most are from Polish girls and they seem quite eager to work. Nothing will start for definite till the week back at school as we are away next week. Anyone had any experiance about polish girls? Easy to get along with, strong minded etc?

Anyway, I need to think about exactly what I want and need from them. I will spend a little time today working a list of jobs I would require and take it from there. I hate all this, but there is no way I want the council workers back in my home!

    Hugs to all.

    Morning all

Congratulations scubaleopard, we have been married 31 years this year, and I wish my dh was thinking about retiring - I think they will have to carry him out of work in a box :o

Bright but cool here today, but that nice Claire Nazir says the weekend will be good :j

Work today, so some steak for dh tonight, and I will have the rest of last night's spag bol.

Pen, hope you feel better soon, sending you lots of hugs x
