    Morning all,

Mr and Mrs Scubaleopard, have a lovely anniversary.
    X_raphael_xx, welcome to the thread.
Penny-Pincher, sorry to hear that you’re still feeling bad.
alibob, Glad to hear that your Dad’s recovering.
Jackie O, I’m sorry to hear that you’ll have to have the chemo.
Belated birthday wishes to Ladygrim and Happy Birthday today to Catznine. :bdaycake:

It’s a beautiful morning here with clear blue skies and a bit of a wind, which is perfect as I want to get the last of the washing done and dried before our holiday. The boys are really looking forward to it, especially the youngest, as he only remembers having camping holidays in France, so going on a plane to somewhere we’ve never been before is really exciting for him.

Yesterday I picked all the remaining peas in the garden and (after a quick google to find out what to do with them) I blanched them and froze them…….I picked four pounds, even though we’ve been eating them for weeks! At last the tomatoes are starting to turn red although I think I’ll still have to make some green tomato chutney (even though none of us are mad about chutney) as I doubt they’ll all go red….oh well, maybe I can palm some of it off as Christmas gifts.

Thanks to Penelope Penguin for your ideas for a marrow….I did as you suggested and peeled it, scooped out the seeds, filled it with chilli and topped with grated cheese. It was delicious and everyone enjoyed it so I’m making that again tonight.

I can hear a war breaking out in the living room….we get nine weeks summer holidays here and I’m beginning to think it’s too long. I’d better go and sort it out….

Take care all and have a good day.

  • Hello everyone - huge hugs for birthdays and anniversaries - 31 years WOW!!:T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T
JackieO - well done - with your fabulous attitude Cancer should just keep on running !! I was at the hospital last week with my Mum when a woman was given the all clear after ten years!! The nurses and other patients were laughing a crying with her - then the consultant came out of his rrom and hugged her - really lovely sight. I bet that will be you Jackie in less time than you think!:j :j
Ma doesn't have cancer but issues with her blood and has to go to the same day unit as the oncology patients.
Well today I have got mum ready for the hospital - she goes by ambulance and I join her there - she is sniffy about my car and so prefers the ambulance - having seen some of the drivers (gorgeous) I think I know the real reason!!! 85 and still and old flirt!!
So far I have made mushroom soup, put on and out a load of washing, got two kids ready and sent off to gym class, and read this thread!! Oh yes, written some publicity material for DH's new business - got to be at the printers on Friday and I like to write stuff, leave it lying around for a couple of days to re read and change stuff.

Now I really do need to get showered and shoot off to the hospital - Ma's appointment is in 45 mins and I'm not in a fit state for public consumption!!

Hugs to all who need it - hope the day treats you all well and that the insomnia gremlins move on to others.
    Take care,
    Tilly

Jackie O - Good news about the op - I just worry for all those poor male oncologists and radiologists who are completely oblivious to the whirlwind about to hit their department:D
Happy Anniversary Scubaleopard - 31 years:T well done both

Today is my last day with Ratty the dog (AKA Sam) I think I am going to really miss him although I did have to cut his walks down due to the embarrassment of having to rescue him when he decided to have a sit in on one of the major roads leading to his field!!! I have to say he is the first dog I have ever come across who dislikes his walks:confused:

Out to lunch with my mum and dad today which will be nice - also means no cooking needed later:o Work is always quiet this next couple of weeks so I am thinking of doing a little bit of diy - just about every room in my house needs something doing. I really fancy buying some of that really whacky wallpaper for a feature wall in my lounge and bedroom so will hit B and Q after lunch today

So Crazychic is in Turkey now is she - I know its a big country but I know of at least 2 other msers who are over there at the moment (Panda and Aureo boralis) you never know she might meet them.

Right of to put my Glad rags on (not to be interpreted as rags that Glad has given me:D )

    Rant start

pottering around the house today so far for me. DH is off. Oh, what a pile of inertia men can be.

Does he not want to do something with his time? Spend time with his children? Aargh - the frustration! I've cleared the kitchen ready for it to be ripped out. Done a pile of ironing, made bread and blueberry muffins, fed and washed children. Cleaned kids' bedroom.

    He's watched playhouse disney.

Do you think I can persuade him to take them out this afternoon ? - so I can sit on my backside and do some knitting ;):D

    Grr

    Morning all,
Hope everyone’s well, hugs to those feeling under the weather or a bit down.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY / BIRTHDAY to those who are celebrating.
TOOTIES ~ Enjoy your lunch with your friend. Hope it cheers you up.
LUXOR4T ~ I had an old post office book, it had £24.74 in my account back in 2003, sent the book off this year and got the whopping figure of £2.81 interest. So I wouldn’t plan on retiring with your interest.
TAPLADY ~ good luck with the snake palaver. I got bit by a snake many moons ago. (It bit my eye, don’t ask!) so I know where you are coming from not liking them.
JACKIEO ~ glad you are making use of your conservatory. Hope you don’t have a window cleaner that could accidentally see you in “all your glory”
PENPEN ~ Glad you got your cheque (even if you had to chase it)
Well there isn’t much happening here. I’m off to have a bath to try and ease my aching bum, back and dead leg. Rang the hospital earlier to ask how long my appointment will take next week. (Wanted to know, because if it was going to take hours, I would have driven myself, even though I would rather not.) The girl said half hour, which looks like it’s only a consultation. So OH said he would drive me.
I really hope they have some answers and they don’t just fob me off, like its felt like I have been for the past 8 months.
Going to take it easy today, and potter around the house.
    Will pop back after

    Morning all (just)

What a night!!! Had a huge electrical storm here last night - started about 1.30am and went on until 6ish - the lightening was fab - the thunder was right over head and sounded like the roof was coming in and the rain!!! Lots of local (minor) flooding and no trains (not that I need one).... We didn't get much sleep last night.

I managed to step out of the back door and misjudge the distance to the floor - how? I've no idea - it's not changed in the 5 years we've lived here! - but it resulted in twisting my knee - couldn't bend it last night and can't put pressure on it today - a good excuse to sit and rest it.

DD's are a bit cheesed off with the weather - we are going away next week but I'm sure they'd have liked to get out and about this week too.

Raided my cupboards last night and got all my dried beans and soup mixes out and soaked - they're all merrily boiling away now to be cooled and frozen into portion sizes - nothing like a drop of rain, wind and grey skies to start you hankering after a nice thick soup or stew.

Hugs to all those in need and congrats to all those celebrating.

Hope you all have a fantastic day.

First time for ages I have had the house to myself.

DH is at work as are two DDs - another DD is out for the day and my 13 year old has gone to call on a friend.

First load of washing is on the line, second load is spinning and second load in dishwasher is ready to be started!

Huge pot of soup is simmering on the stove and I need to send out my amazon book sales - I have been trying to wind down as I hope we will be moving house but they suddenly seem to be selling!

Need to go and buy some tights ready to start wearing winter shoes again as the weather is not like summer at all.

Went to look at the school booklet to check when DD goes back - DH has "helpfully " thrown it out!!!!!

Will have to check at the library when it opens at 1.30.

DD needs new stationery etc and will have to get her new shoes and school skirt as well. Winter coat can wait for a bit.

DD(18) will be starting at university in Newcastle in September so need to get her set up for stuff.

Still waiting to exchange contracts on my Dad's flat and waiting to hear if the "interest" in our house turns into a firm offer at some point. He did say that he did not want to be "hurried!" Just hope he does not mean months to offer and exchange! I would love to be moved by Christmas.

Hugs to everyone - especially JackieO, Pennypincher, tooties ec.

Ok, I'm having a rant here.

Just been shoe shopping for youngest two. School shoes. They have to have them, they are fine about buying them, no arguments or whining, just buying boring old shoes.

So, why do my daughter's new shoes have to have a small doll concealed in the heel along with a little case of accessories and a box which turns into a house for said doll ?

Why do my son's shoes come with a radio ? The radio doesn't work so he's fed up about that.

Then to top it off the shoe shop gave them all balloons which they can't blow up.

I was going to buy shoes anyway so why do they include gimmicks for the kids ? School shoes are a parent's decision not the child's.

It seems that more and more ordinary everyday experiences have to be made into entertainments. There always has to be more. More stuff, more rubbish for the landfill, more choice, more to the simple act of buying footwear, more meaningless nothing.

What has happened to simplicity ?

    Right that's better ;)
