tesco on line shop

is it me or does it take the same amount of time to do an on-line shop with tesco as it would be if i went there. i know the first few times took almost all day as i was new to it and dint have a favourites i could log onto. but today spent nearly 2 hours doing it. is there a quicker way? what am i doing wrong? generally i first sort out a delivery time, then head to view all special offers, then go on to my favourites page and tick what i need off of that but the spent is ridiculous. it kicked in today when my husband who works half hour car ride away left work and poped into asda for some bits that tesco doesnt do and was still home half hour before i was finshed. please help i must be doing something wrong?

  • I dont' know; I take about 30 minutes to do mine, but I usually order only teh same things from 'my favourites' then anything else I might need to order. Do you use a list??

i can take hours to do it. but if i want to get it done quickly. i write my list of what i need. then log in , go to fav items and click away. i don't always look at special items. because if it not on my list then i don't need it. and if it something i always buy then it will show up on fav on specail. i can do an order in about 20 min half hour.

i do find i need a list tho. without one i'm ages.

    hope this helps.

I prefer going to the actual shop anyway, my neighbour and I have had a few items from online tesco that were out of date by the next day, I like to see what I'm buying. However am now thinking of selling my car so will have to use it, guess I'll get quicker - my neighbour takes 30 mins a week but I'm like you and take ages

Been doing online shopping for over 2 years and it takes me about 20 mins. Also I generally go back online later to add stuff Ive forgotten - I love it - wouldnt go back to do my big shop actually in the shop.

Did take me a long time at the beginning - also some mistakes like a crate full of grapes once.
  • LOL- what did you do with them, or did you send them back??

I did order, and receive a (very nicely packaged) single mushroom! It's all a learning curve!

  • I think for me its how the time "feels" rather than the absolute minutes used.

Scenario 1 – Local Tesco. After 20 minutes bumping into people in Tesco I'm usually wishing I had a Kalashnikov to take out a few of the stupider/more selfish shoppers.

Scenario 2 – Home. After 20 minutes tapping away at my desk I might perhaps make a 2nd cup of tea or switch radio stations…

    No contest.

On a more serious note I sort of take all week to get my basket together, logging in repeatedly as I think of things I need. Then, just before submitting I go through for a final refinement (usually deleting things I don’t really need).

  • By the way, has anyone used the "Deliver without carrier bags" function that's recently appeared (well, I noticed it recently)?

How does that work? If I had to empty the crates of their items one by one it really would take all day.

  • I use it and just dump the stuff on the counter, then put away after they've gone; if you ask they are supposed to do that for you, but they wont' offer.
