I can take 20 mins usually to do a month's shop based on the items we have all the time. I also only look at the offers if I need something specific. Once you have your favourites on there, you will probably get quicker.

I use Tesco or Asda online shopping, pros and cons of each. Main difference for me is that on Tesco you can choose what substitute you have. Asda you don't get to choose individually (you can say yes or no to substitutes at all) but they don't charge you any more if they provide a more expensive alternative.

I think we have all had a mix up when we started - I once nearly ordered 6 bags of bananas cos I hadn't noticed they were bags of not individual. Only intercepted by canny OH.

Tesco are really good on refunds, any time they've done anything wrong and I've phoned I've been able to keep the goods and get the refund as well.
  • I've been shopping online with tesco for the last 4-5 years so my shopping takes around 20mins now but it is a longer process before you have all your favourites set up.

I find the express shopper facility in the top left of the screen is really helpful. You can type in your shopping list and it will match each item, although it doesn't allow for tesco's dreadful spelling/abbreviating/stringing-five-words-into-one type tricks! If I can't find what I'm looking for from that I look at a similar item and click on the "from the xyz aisle" link and find it that way. Sometimes things aren't in a logical place but the website is much more user friendly than it used to be.

I never worry about looking in the special offers page, it just distracts me and makes me buy stuff I don't really need. If any of my favourites are on special offer it shows on the item anyway so I know to stock up. Like Essex girl I also go back and amend my list up to the night before the delivery.

I love online shopping, :j can you tell?!
I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!

I do check the specials page but I fid it much easier to resist offers on a webpage than in a shop so I'm not too worried... Usually I guess it takes me about an hour if I check the specials and 30 mins if I don't... :)
Which reminds me the Tesco van is due in anywhere between 10 and 12... must really go and tidy the kitchen ready and then I have to go and donate blood... busy busy busy

I have used it before, theirs and Sainsburys who I found were not reliable. I use to have a flat and was 4 flours up and as it would cost me £3.50-4 in a taxi I thought I may as well get Tesco to deliver it and I also didnt have to haul it up 4 flights of stairs. So the convenience and the fact it was not much more for delivery made it worthwhile. It also meant I did not impulse buy for the sake of it.

Now I have a huge Tesco extra 1 min walk from my door so I get a meal each day, look thru Delia and see something we fancy and just get what we need for it.

I did North Indian lamb curry the other night which meant buying lamb and some onions as I do have plenty of dried herbs and spices in the cupbaord. So that was about £5 for the 2 of us, half of what you would pay for a take away and much much nicer.
