I can do this!

Hi all,

Some of you may remember me from years ago, I was infact a BG on DFW and a number of other boards for a very very long time ;)

Life got hectic and busy and I ended up stepping down because in part I had lost my MSE motivation a little after probably overdosing on it... Work got manic, my daughter was a toddler and needed a lot of time, we were trying to move house and frankly life got in the way of things!

SO I am back with a vengeance after clicking on a forum post that was shared on the FB page and I've spent too many hours the last few days falling in love with MSE all over again!

This thread will be my personal diary on the way to finally getting DF - it's within reach and I will be honest and say I live a pretty comfortable life right now. There are a LOT of things I could cut back on but I choose not to... these are my personal choices and some (I have an occasional cleaner) are for my sanity due to the long hours I work.
I have re-joined flylady to minimize my cleaner needs though, but it's something that when I pull 10-12 hour days then my free time will be prioritized for my daughter and not for washing the kitchen cabinets down

So please bear in mind that I know I could be far more brutal in my quest - there is no need to berate me for some of my frivolous luxuries, they are very conscious choices at this stage :o

That said - I shall go and create my full income and outgoings and post it here later this morning - i may be a while!!

Still a few bits to go on there but this is a start... I typically put away £500 in savings a month and still have treats for myself (which will need to be stopped for a bit!)

We have a holiday booked for end of October (2 weeks in Florida) - I'm keeping my £2k aside for this, I don't expect to spend more than £500 but I want to know it's there if I need it!

Well done on getting back on the band wagon :)

Just a note on the car; I bought the servicing plan too and had to fork out for new brake discs and pads at the service last month. I also opted to have the air con regassed as I spend a lot of time in the car. These and a couple of very minor things ended up costing me £460 so watch out for them.

Oh I know! Luckily I know a lot of mechanics as I used to work for the brand and made friends with many of the authorized techs so I can usually bribe them to do things like brakes and such hehehe I'd never pay dealer prices for that!

If I'm super nice and throw in dinner they'll even get my book stamped for me :A Should be said that it is all genuine parts so the book is completely legit! I just pay mates rates for the time and whole sale for the parts :)

First three items up for sale - one on ebay, two on facebook.

    It's a start!

£15 refund also arrived unexpectedly in the post today so I'm taking that as a sign! Not sure what of, but hey :rotfl:

Found some Duplo sets I bought 2 years ago as presents for a friends kids and then haven't seen them since... Oh well... they can get sold then! :p

Was going to photograph them this morning but totally forgot to - that will be on this evenings list! More pennies to go towards the £300 for Sept challenge. Need to try and get some time to do some crafting and stick bits up on Etsy... They're a little Christmas focused so now is definitely the time to get cracking!

I'm also doing a day teaching towards the end of the month so I will have £60 to put in the pot from that... :j

FlyLadying got off to a good start; kitchen is clean and mainly tidy (need to do the floor really... bah humbug!)
Today is Master Bedroom and DD can do her own tidying this evening after school. Contrary to her belief it will NOT kill her... :rotfl:

Yeah DD totally did NO tidying, however bedroom is hoovered and dusted, my side is decluttered.
Husbeast actually hoovered and washed kitchen floor - better than nothing!

Tomorrow is a LONG drive to south wales for work - the good news is that I get milage for this so once I have taken out the petrol cost I would say that's £50 at least... I shall put that towards my £300 goal this month but I'm not counting it till it's paid :)

Found half a dozen of DDs shoes that I will list on the local FB sales page so that will help too.

    Progress!

I spent four hours in my 12yo DD's bedroom on Sunday while she was away. Been telling her for weeks to tidy to no avail. Brought 14 empty juice/water bottles down. Found clothes scrunched up into balls that she hasn't worn for months - she has a laundry basket that gets emptied a couple of times a week but these never made it to it. Sent her up for an hour once she got back to do a bit more. When she came downstairs I asked her if she had got much done - according to her that was it finished. :rotfl: Don't think so sweetie. I hadn't even started under her bed. Sure enough all she had done was pick up the small bits of paper that I hadn't got to yet because I was dealing with the big stuff. At least she can now walk to her wardrobe but under and behind her bed are still a tip and behind her TV stand too.

One day my house will be a haven of peace and tranquility.:rotfl:
