Foolishly, I used Stardrops to clean my wooden floor in my bedroom, now, it is worse than an ice-rink!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: It's kinda hard to look 'bedroomy' or 'alluring' whilst struggling to stay upright :rotfl:
Obviously, I will need to mop it over again, but what should I use to un-slip the floor?!

I have just dropped a large bottle of virgin olive oil on my quarry tiled kitchen floor, I have managed to clean it all but the whole floor is like a skating rink, any ideas, before myself or a fasmily member break a leg!!!
Apologies if this is not on the correct board,
Am lovin this board0 -
Before anyone breaks their leg you need to degrease the floor and I'd use washing up liquid and lots of it wash the floor with a hot soapy solution and that should solve the problem

Have used nearly a whole bottle of fairy, but it seems ok, what a mess - will make sure to be extra carefull with oil in future!!0

Too late now, but I would have poured a bag of builders sand onto it then swept it up. It works for diesel oil so should for olive oil.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I hope someone can help me... my floor is a death trap!
Our laminate floor looked all matt and not pretty so I used pledge on it in the problem areas and now our floor is VERY slippy and although it looks good is causing problems.
I polished our dining room AND living room so I'd be very very greatful for any suggestions on how to reverse my polishing!
it's even slippy when wearing slippers and socks are a definate no no in the house at the moment...
This is also a warning for anyone considering this cleaning process! If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
When I was much younger my Mum had a wooded parquet floor. It's one of those where all the bits of wood are laid in angles similar to block paving. She used to use amonia from time to time to take the shine off before putting the polish back on. I don't know if she diluted it or not I'm sorry but I would have a go at googling it to see what comes up

oooh amonia is a start...although it smells?
I've nearly knocked down two bookcases with slipping! I can't belive I was/am so silly...but hey, it's making life fun

as the OP said amonia is good but it stinks for days after using it.not sure what super market you use but sainsburys do a shine on product.and also a shine off product. look in the cleaning section,it does make the laminate look very dull though0

Be careful with what you use and do a patch test first, as a laminate surface may be more delicate than wood.
If you want to polish your floor, look for something that says it is safe to use on laminate flooring, so it should be something that makes it shine without being slippery.0
