Covering stuff in fridge
I've got a lovely new fridge after old one had been awful for years. I now manage to keep it tidy, re-use left-overs and have my meal planning under control. But I'm ending up with more (nice) leftovers for re-use. To cover them in fridge I sometimes use clingfilm, and sometimes silver foil, but both these seem expensive…

Afternoon OS'ers  I'm hoping you can help me. I bought a few yellow stickered things from the supermarket yesterday and didn't look at the packaging carefully - 2 x 175g prawns and 2 mini WW quiches, I thought I'd be able to freeze them no probs as the dates are quite short 27 & 30 May. The packaging on the prawns…

How much royal icing to cover a 14" cake?
How much royal icing do I need to make to cover a 14" cake (4.5" high)? Anyone got any good recipes/techniques for "fool proof" royal icing? What's the minimum length of time for it to set. Asking a lot I know, but my previous experiences of royal icing have not been easy. Of course may be someone has an alternative icing…

Recommended Old Style Cookbooks/Mags?
I recently invested in 'The Paupers Cookbook' by Jocasta Innes after Tine's recommendation and that has some superb cheap but tasty stuff in so it gets a thumbs up from me as well, have sent for Jocasta's Country Kitchen Cookbook as well, and in true OS style I used vouchers for Amazon collected from doing lightspeed…

In praise of E-cloths
So, I have read numerous times on these pages that all you need in life are a microfibre cloth and some stardrops. I do occasionally use stardrops, but have tried various brands of microfibre cloth, but have never been that impressed. All that has now changed! A few friends rave about them. I then met a cleaning lady…

Looking for a recipe from an old cookery book...
Years ago, I used to have a big cookery book called (I think) the Hamlyn All-Colour Cookbook. Goodness knows what happened to it, but there was a really nice recipe in it for Australian biscuits. I just wondered if any of you nice people might have the book and could reunite me with the recipe?
