Hoover - Bagless or Bagged is there a major difference in running cost/performance?
Hi all, I currently have a bagged hoover, it is on its last legs so thinking of upgrading. My problem is what do I go for? I want the minimum hassle in terms of cleaning it out. I am tempted by the bagless variety, is there any difference in terms of performance, or running cost? Obviously no bags would need to be…

Brown bagging leftovers with no microwave
I *love* leftovers, and used to regularly take them to work as my lunch, but my company got rid of the microwave. I've purchase a food thermos, but using it would require heating up the food in the morning enough for it to retain its heat all day, and is really only suitable for soups and stews. Does anyone have any…

Help - dyed my daughter's dressing gown!
I've had a washing machine disaster and my daughter's pale green cotton towelling dressing gown has red splodges over it. I've tried using colour run, both in the machine and as a soak but to no avail. What can I try next? If nothing works do I just buy a new one or is it worth trying to dye it? I've never dyed anything so…

Can I save my Xmas cake?
I thought I was being really good this year - made my Christmas cakes in September - as you're supposed to. And fed it regularly with copious amounts of brandy.... There-in lies the problem! I think I've added far too much alcohol! I don't think it's undercooked as made several and everyone else's (who didn't over do it)…

left over cava
I appear to have quite a lot of opened, left over cava, which for one reason and another I don't feel like drinking... Anyone got any ideas how I could use it up? I thought of jelly, but there's a limit to how many jellies I can make and eat and it seems a shame to waste it! :) Thanks in advance

New Year Calamity..My Leather Bag Has A Nasty Melted Chocolate Stain All Over :(
Heeelllp! My favourite red leather clutch bag has a nasty stain on the back. I was drunk at New Years, dancing holding my bag and didn't realise I had a few chocolates in the pocket inside..so it's melted all over. Washing the fabric inside wasn't a problem, but it's left a darkened stain all over the back of the bag. I've…

Healthy, Cheap and Vegitarian?
Hi all The recipes which have been posted to this forum have been fantastic, and I would really like to take advantage of them, but I am coming to the forum for a bit more help. Most of the recipes are fairly heavy on either meat (or chicken) and / or some sort of starch. In anticipation of summer, I have gone on a health…

The Living for free post and freecycle
I was just thinking about how I would like (more like need) to do the living for free thing as on the post of the same name - but our washing machine has packed in and the repair man says this time it has had it. We have no money for a new one and I am already tired of trying to wash by hand, so I put a wanted post on…

Help -It could be Guy Fawkes all over again!
Hi Everyone! For Christmas, I brought my mum what I thought at the time from the picture on the box, was a slow cooker. Not! :o It's by Royal Doulton and looks like a slow cooker except that the only control on it is a sliding heat guage going up to 250 degrees. There were no real instructions with it as to how to use it…
