Got 2 half bottles of red wine,i would rather cook with it than drink it.Any ideas for something to freeze or something to jazz up plain food in this traditionally money saving month?

I had some leftover of a fairly undrinkable bottle of red.

I froze it in ice cube trays and I add it to onion gravy with bangers & mash, or you could add it to beef dishes, caseroles etc.

Ive saved white before for adding to chicken/leeks/peppers/onion/mush/courgette and white sauce for with rice/ pasta as a pie filling and its delish!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I add leftover red wine to bolognaise, tomato sauce for pasta, beef stew, lamb casserole or lamb shank in the slow cooker.

In fact, my OH bought me a mug at Christmas which said "I like to cook with wine, sometimes I even put it in the food"!:rotfl:
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Left over wine... :dunno: - no sorry I never seem to have any of that ;) The problem is alien to me - infact I'll open a bottle of wine to add a splash to my cooking and then obviously have to drink the rest! ;)

I always freeze mine in icecube trays, so it's ready to add to anything I'm cooking. Although I must admit I don't often need to - I buy plonk in screw-cap bottles, and it seems to stay fresh in the fridge for ages.

The fact it was left over gives you an indication of how bad it was-it was what was left of the free case of wine offer from virgin wine offer.I tried my bestest to drink both bottles but it was vile! However am not going to waste it-here is where you kind people have been so helpful.

I'm like everyone else.....not much left over wine here very often either. :o

Two good dishes to make with red wine which are not too expensive if you're not buying the wine specially are: Coq au vin and Boeuf Bourguignon.

I think most people suggest using a decent wine for cooking (at least a drinkable one) but I have put wine I didn't like into recipes and they've tasted fine.
