I was also given 1 years free insurance from the dealer. Now I am a bit confused as to what GAP insurance I should take out? 1. The Gap -…

Mobility buy back
Does anyone know how the price of a car is determined at the end of it's 3 year lease, if the user asks to buy it back outright. I know they go straight to auction normally. Would it simply by the auction book rate or would the car be inspected and the price adjusted in accordance with condition? I just have it in mind…

Claiming for whip lash
Husband had an accident last week, no other vehicles involved and not driving dangerously: dark, wet country lane. The car was a write off and he is suffering for whiplash. Police/council have since placed 'skid risk' signs in the area. Been advised by a few people he should claim compensation, essentially suing himself.…

Dent in car today, Chipsaway?
My 6 week old car managed to gain a dent today, from a metal hanging rail falling into it. At first I thought one of those suction pads might work but it's on a more 'solid' panel than the main wings, it's just to the right of the rear lights, half way up. I've contacted a few local guys that were recommended as car…

Hello I have a car that is now worth not very much at all ... a few hundred pounds or therabouts. Mercedes end of lease costs - non-Main Dealership Servicing Penalty
There are various threads floating around about Mercedes Benz Financial Services and the end-of-lease charges they hit you with even when the car has been well looked after. I'm in a dispute about the use of main dealerships for servicing. I got a invoice for about £1300 for "lack of service history" even though I did…

Be warned that the AA will charge you £49.99 to come out to your car if you have changed your vehicle and haven't "told" them, even if you have AA Car Insurance that shows the new vehicle registration. The AA are not one coordinated organisation that passes information between departments, unless it is of benefit to them.…

speed awareness course
A few months ago I was towing a heavy load, (almost 3.5t) near guildford and basically went through a red light. It was one of those touch and go ones where you would almost have to lock the wheels to stop in time and given my load I went through. It must have been milliseconds. I wasnt speeding and this is confirmed on…

VW "grade" engine oil
Do VWs really need special grade of engine oil or can any be used? I know with antifreeze, power steering you have to use their own spec stuff otherwise it can cause problems. But what about engine oil? Some say that VW run hotter than other cars and need the specced oils?
