Hi,
I'm on hols in Morecambe and it looks like the fuel pump has packed up.
Going to cut holidays a day short. I'm with autoaid. I live in the southwest. Does autoaid cover full recovery for me, family and car if it needs to be towed back? Or can they insist on a local garage? Bill likely 500 plus aggravation involved.
Does it matter its a seemed tow?
Anyone been 'recovered' that far?
Cheers.

Depends what service level you've paid for. I would expect them to source a replacement pump and fit it - charging you for the part. A relay home would be unlikely.0

It says recovery to any UK destination of your choice on the website:

Fix at roadside or recovery, hope you have got enough spare room on your credit card0

Autoaid will not replace a fuel pump by the side of the road but will tow you to wherever you like. Had the same thing happen to me with a Diesel Rover and all they could have offer was a towing service.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

They only offer one service.
OP you have a choice, either be taken to a local garage or to your home address, the choice is yours.0 -

Yep as said, this is hokey.
They'll haul you wherever you want, all you do is pay p and claim it back. I used them and it came to £130 The cheque came through pretty fast.
I doubt many agencies would just happen to be carrying the right part for your car so a tow would be the most likely option from any of them with of course a bill to fix it.
If you ring round some local garages, it might be you can get it towed somewhere local, have it fixed while you are there and drive it home again. Shouldn't make much difference as if it isn't fixed you'll be without a car for the rest of your holiday anyway.
Good luckWhat if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Left a bit early and have now got home ok with the need for TT.
Looks like a common focus fault ( they have now all come at once ). Cant do it myself as its a basket to get to.
Cheers for advice.0 -
Let us know if they pay out OK; they should do as they have a good reputation. Morcambe to the SW will be a big bill though. It's around £1.50+ per mile and they charge there and back because the lorry has to get back ! I was towed around 30 miles and the bill was £120. Got paid OK.0
