Got a new car last week from someone in Trade-it.
All okay until today, took a bend sharp and almost lost the back!
Checked when home, NO traction control light!
Checked, have abs which goes off as should but the button for traction not lite and doesnt do anything.
Pulled switch off, contact has been purposely removed by someone!!
Bridged the contact, light stays on constantly = no traction.
Looked under bonnet for fuses (I wish) and a sensor on the brake res has had one of its four wires cut and taped out the way.
Any ideas?

Learn to drive and judge bends.
It's not a good idea to rely on driver aids.0 -
Traction control is completely different to DSC (Dynamic Stability Control). DSC helps stabilise the car in bends but still cannot overcome the laws of physics. The man without a signature.0

Try a switch that bridges the contact, so the light goes on & off when you switch on = bridge & off = no bridge.
The TC on our old vectra didn't work if the switch was on, no idea what the light did, it used to flicker when flooring it from a standing start when the switch was out, and the car just lifted its skirts and went.
TC stops the wheels spinning when you pull away in the wet or at an angle, and can help you not get an on the spot fine for wheelspin as discussed in another thread.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Wire it back up and plug a code reader into it.
If its just traction control then you would still have crashed. It stops the wheels spinning when pulling away not a safety net for poor driving.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
OP is mistaking traction control for stability control.....
TC effectively prevents wheelspin when pulling away, people turn it off in the winter because it can stop your car moving at all.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Useless response. OP wants help on issues with purchased car, not your view on his driving style.
If its a vw/audi etc. you can buy a £10 lead and carry out a diagnostic check. Alternatively take it back and discuss with seller.0 -

OP 'invites' opinions, as I read it.No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Is it rear wheel drive?0

If this is a BMW, don't know how they've managed to bridge the dsc without all three warning lights coming up on the dash.0
