Does anyone know if Cargiant would reduce the price displayed ie Haggle ? If yes any tips how much to ask for please.
I have seen a car its 8995/- certainly do not wish to pay that kind of amount.

no, instead they add £99 to the listed price as admin charge

better off going to main dealer and getting the free 1 year warranty

I find the cars at Car Giant to be refreshingly honest. Apart from a wash once in a while they are not tarted up or repaired. You can see how they have or haven't been treated by the kerbed alloys, scuffed bumpers and any dings or dents. A main dealer will fix all these and hide how they are treated. You either get a decent car at Car Giant or they are real sheds. I would prefer to see an honest car rather than one that has been mistreated.

Their prices for mainstream cars are pretty competitive even with the £99 admin charge. They will try and sell you finance/GAP/paint protection etc etc.

Car Giant do not haggle. My friend bought a car from them in June and the price in the window is what you pay plus the admin fee.

Be prepared to massively have to put your foot down regarding the extras they will try to sell you. The one we saw wouldn't take no for an answer until we got quite blunt with him. That is where they make their commission.

    Hmmm.

Where you see 'refreshingly honest' i see 'substandard'.

All those dings and scratches cost money to repair, but moreoften their prices arent any cheaper than main dealers if you are prepared to travel a bit. So you're left with cars that need dings and wheel scuffs sorted.

They're prices for a 2012 Golf 105 S TDI - £12499. The main dealers local to me were looking £12999 for one but i was able to chip them back to £12,400 quite easily. The car was mint. On top of that they half filled it with diesel, fitted mats and mud flaps (i never asked for either) and taxed it for a year (granted it was just £30 but still). And because we used VW low rate finance it came with 2 years free servicing. They also checked the car over in their workshop, applying any of the latest software updates and gave it a valet. Also, they didnt push for any of the 'add ons' that Cargiant will.

All from a main dealer too.

I like cargiant my mum brought her car there a few years ago it was by far the best price we saw advertised anywhere there were a few chips on the bonnet but it had been reduced from the internet price and had a "managers discount" sticker on the bonnet as it wasnt in perfect condition (it was only a few chips).

otherwise no, there are no discounts or haggling they are priced to sell. But we found them to always be well priced.

You may find a lot of those dings and dents have happen between car supermarkets getting the vehicles and transported them to the forecourt.

Its a major bugbear to them as it costs them £.
  • I would walk if they ask for £99 on top of the screen price. That is like doing your weekly shop and being asked for another £20 at the checkout.

The 12 plate on Car Giant is a DSG model. 105 S TDI DSG's are showing on the VW used website as £1-1.5k more. Either you got a good deal or you bought a bog standard manual.

I was comparing the deal i got to this one, which is a manual.

Also the DSG car has high miles - 34K, so it would be hardly surprising that its cheaper than main dealer cars that usually have 14-15K miles.

Merely making the point not to "assume" a car supermarket is going to be the cheapest particularly given

    (a) they usually add fees on, not take discount off
    (b) their cars are usually not mint
