Hi there am hoping for some advice, sorry if this has been asked before but I searched and couldn't find the answer
Son (18 yo) bought his first car yesterday - a second hand VW golf.
His father (my ex) removed the radio but was unable to fit the new one DS has bought. (We have now booked it in at Halfords for sunday to fit new one)
Central locking stopped working using remote keyfob
Doors will lock using key manually apart from rear passenger door on drivers side which locks then re-opens
We now lock all doors using key manually and then manually open rear passenger door and push button down to manually lock door
THe light is still working on the keyfob so assuming its not the battery
The alarm/immobiliser is flashing in the car when all doors are locked so assuming that's still working once car is locked manually
We have tried the reset instructions in the manual but it has not worked
Sorry its a bit long winded. I am female and not familiar with cars but I have searched the web and can only find instructions to reset the key fob using 2 keys and he only has 1 !!
Also I am not sure if removing the radio has any effect on the central locking ?
Would be grateful for any advice. Please be gentle with me !
Thanks

First thing to do is change the battery then at least that can be ruled out for sure. But battery has to be changed very fast on some fobs otherwise it will need re-programmed so make sure you are ready and have everything to hand before changing the battery.0

Check the battery as above. Can be very cheap on ebay. Its possible the radio and central locking share a fuse.0

Thanks for your replies. DS has his radio fitted properly by hal fords yesterday and lo and behold the central locking/remote key fob is all working perfectly again.....
Fingers crossed it has now sorted it out/reset itself.
