The curious case of the vanishing oil...
Wondering if this rings any bells for anyone? DS has an 03 1.2 Polo, 80k on the clock. Was running fine with no misfires etc until yellow oil light came on last week. He limped it home and the dipstick was showing no oil at all. OH decided to do an oil change as the car is reasonably new to DS, but he discovered he didn't…

Mazda6 2.2d SL Estate - Sluggish pickup in each gear at lower end of rev range?
:o Hi all, I've had my 09 (35k) 2.2d SL Estate for about a month now, and generally very pleased with the car. Having test driven the same spec car before buying this one, I seem to remember the pickup in each gear (even at the lower end of the rev range) to be pretty gusty, but mine seems to plateua for a second or more…

Any views on whether AA or RAC are better?
Had Green Flag breakdown cover for years. Because they are insurance based and quote on what car you have and our car is now old, they are more expensive this year than the AA or RAC (when the car was young they were very cheap). Any views on whether the AA or RAC are better? Both work out the same price after Quidco…

Delay/Repay - Rail Travel Vouchers
Last year I was given £48 of Rail Travel Vouchers (2 x £24 vouchers) by East Coast due to separate delays on trains to Kings Cross. Despite booking my tickets online you have to actually take the vouchers in to the station to buy your tickets using these vouchers which is very inconvenient and of course you don't get the…

Resetting Ford alarm
Lost my alarm/remote key this morning (Ford Fiesta Ghia 2002) so I had to use my spare key. I've found a couple of threads which suggest switching on the ignition within 20 seconds but as soon as I open the door the alarm goes off for 30 seconds, the hazard lights for about 5 minutes. I've not found a way to bypass this.…

Modus or C3
Still looking. (The Roomster is ugly, the Fabia is tacky, so they're out) The C3 looks good, but the best I've seen the 58/09 for is around £7000, for a diesel, as opposed to £5000 for a 57 Modus. And they're both very few and far between. Anyone like the C3?

Hi all, Firstly, greetings! This has been a very helpful site over the years, but I couldn't find any information on this specific subject. I'm moving to Lovelace Road in Surbiton from Fulham on the 12th of May with my girlfriend - looking forward to exploring the area :) I have a few questions on train fares from Surbiton…

Opinions on Kia Rio 3 (old type)
Just seen a Kia Rio 3 on the website of a local garage. It's a 2009 so old body type and on for £7,500 (although I think I can easily get about £1000 off that). Any opinions?

Where do I stand????????
I need help people! I bought a brand new Aprilia Sportcity Cube 125cc scooter on the 10/04/2012 (12 days ago), as soon as I rode the scooter away I noticed the speedo was not working - I immediately phone the dealer and he asked me to bring the scooter back the next day. The dealer had the scooter all day but failed to fix…

Just passing test, need advice on cars and insurance
Hi, I'm 22 and just about to pass my driving test. So I've had my provisional since about 16, but never bothered learning to drive until now. I've been looking at first cars from autotrader for rough guides on how much I'm going to be paying out and noticed that a regular first car like a Pug 306 pre 2000 goes for about…

Kwik Fit manufacturers service
I usually take my newish car to the dealership for annual servicing as it was on my way to work 8 miles away. The quote this year was £169. As I`m unemployed and looking to save money everywhere, I phoned Kwit Fit down the road for a quote ( I can walk back), and was delighted to find that they offered a "manufacturers…

Car Warranty:non main dealer service
Hi, I'm on the verge of buying a 2 year old car (Skoda Octavia), which is advertised as being sold with the balance of the manufacturer's 3 year warranty. Problem is, the most recent service was not done by main dealer. My understanding is that this does not invalidate the warranty, provided that "OEM equivalent" parts…

Van Finance Question
Hi I'm looking for some advice. My OH has his own plastering business. I am employed. Currently my wage pays all the bills and day to day living expenses and any money he brings in is a bonus which we use for home improvements etc. (badly needed as the house we live in was a repossession). His money is gradually increasing…
