Car Warranty:non main dealer service
Hi,
I'm on the verge of buying a 2 year old car (Skoda Octavia), which is advertised as being sold with the balance of the manufacturer's 3 year warranty. Problem is, the most recent service was not done by main dealer. My understanding is that this does not invalidate the warranty, provided that "OEM equivalent" parts were used. But what level of proof will Skoda require that such parts were used in the event of a warranty claim? The work was done at a VAT-registered garage, but with an old-fashioned handwritten invoice, with no part number details etc.
Any idea on what I can do (or get the selling dealer to do) to ensure that the warranty is still valid before I part with the cash?

your worried before you buy
you will be terrified after you bought
i suggest you purchase elsewhere for the sake of your nerves
of course you could ring up the dealer and ask there but if its anything like the skoda dealer i last went into be prepared for a oh we couldnt possibly do that attitude,
me thinks skoda dealers are getting too big for their booties
just buy a vw, go on you know you want to
remember the smaller skodas are all bought by frustrated ex lada drivers too0 -

Thanks for your input, but having owned both VW and Skoda I would go for Skoda every time.0
