Where are these cheap cars ?
Hi chaps ... I'm VERY vaguely looking for a new car, super mini type I'm thinking, Corsa, Yaris, Clio. All the chaps in the pub say "...dealers are giving them away..." - well, not the ones I've spoken to. I haven't pushed very hard, I'm afraid I'm not very good at driving a bargain, but none of them seem desperate. I even…

Tyres - it pays to shop around
Christmas isn't a great time to have to splash out on two new tyres for my wife's car (Yokohama GO35) so I was keen to get the best price possible. My local suppliers quoted me anything from £115 to £140 each. Online from companies like Blackcircles I could get it down to £110 using discount vouchers / Quidco etc. However,…

Grrrr... get awf my land!
I have office premises in town with a long drive with walls either side. It's enough for two cars side by side and - at a real push - perhaps 3 cars deep. Today, I left the car at home and ran to work. My wife was going to park at my work later in the day, in order to take our 2 boys to an event in town. My work colleague…

Help - Megane suspect engine mount
While driving OH's car the other day I noticed that there was a lot of movement in the gear leaver when acelerating/decelerating. This doesn't seem right to me and I am suspecting there is a problem with one of the engine mounts. Can anyone confirm if this is likely to be the case or do all Meganes do this?

Buying a stolen/recovered car
We have used this particular salvage company before with no problems. They gave us (not a very good) copy of an hpi check that was done on 03 December and have told us that its not recorded as stolen/recovered. We would like to verify this but not sure that a basic hpi would show this up.

£3 Southern Trains!
Southern trains have extra cheap tickets (usually £3 one way) for London to Brighton and vice versa. They may include other destinations but I've never tried. Thing is, you can't buy these off Southern's website. You can either: 1) Go to a participating Southern trains railway station and buy the tickets. You have to ask…

Corsa gearbox not working properly
Hi. I'm hoping somebody can clear this up for me, but I think my Corsa '04 gearbox might have had it. I was waiting at a set of lights on a roundabout at the start of a bypass. My foot slipped off the clutch as a moved off and the wheels spun a hell of a lot and I heard a clunck under the car when I went into 2nd gear. As…
