I noticed the other day my heater on my 206 doesn't work, it will blow hot air for a few minutes then go cold, any ideas as to what it is or could be

  • Have you checked the coolant level in the radiator?

Yes it would. You'd best check your other fluids while you're at it - they should all be checked regularly ;)

i did check the fluids only the other week and im sure i checked the coolant, well it does look like the coolant level is low or even empty, can i get coolant from halfords say, do i need a certain type of coolant or is coolant the same for all cars,

would that be a reason why the heating isn't working
  • it certainly would. your car manual should tell you what dilution of coolant should be used - i usually just top up with cooled boiled water unless i'm heading somewhere particularly wintery.

your engine uses water to heat and cool down. if there's no water, it won't heat!

Well i asked the dealership and they said theres poor quality ones and greater quality due to the additives in them, ill get it from the dealership and its cheaper

well its not fixed but im going to get coolant tomorrow and ill fill it up and see if the heating is ok or not
  • just fill it up with cooled boiled water to test it. you shouldn't need to add coolant to test if it's working.

driving to the dealership with it in that state could cause further damage
