Car kettle
Hubby wants a car kettle (he's a cab driver).
Found this
http://www.t2retail.co.uk/Appliances/Car_Kettle_To_Go/
The time for a 12v to boil is 18 mins:eek:
I guess thats full & from cold, if he brought a thermos of hot water it would be much quicker.
So is are all boiling times the same (depending on volume of course)? Are they determined by the car battery & don't differ?
Any recommendations?

Can't help much, but we got one for camping and ended up going back to the old way ie tin kettle on calor gas stove. doesnt help your hubby much though.
I remember a while back you could get somethng that does just one cup, that would be better if you can still get them0 -
Half fill it = half the time to boil
I doubt you'd want to use the full capacity......0 -

He will only boil as much as he needs, BUT even half full its still a long time.
I just wondered if anyone knew of any differences between them for boil time or if they could recommend a good one.0 -
Hi MrsE, I bought one for £20 in case of power cuts and it takes 30 mins to boil!
Have a look at this, may be more the thing.

Hi I used one of those in a lorry. They are best used with the engine running. I had two of the GO kettles packup on 24v before I changed brand and just got a 24v only. I never used the GO on 12v so can't comment on the 12v reliablity.
When they worked they were good, I would listen to the traffic news join the jam and put the kettle on and have a nice HOT cuppa!0 -
The solution is to go to a camping shop, buy a small stove and a can of gas. That way you can have your brew in about 2 minutes flat, and if your hubby ever breaks down he will have a ready means of heating water/food.0

Not really the thing for central London:rotfl:
Don't think carrying gas around with passengers would go down to well with the PCO either:D
Gotta be a car kettle, but thanks for the thought:D0 -
Save your money and buy a top of the range Thermos type flasks. I had one of these 12v kettles when I was a road warrior and consigned it to the dump soon after. I think they'll work much better on 24v lorries. The man without a signature.0

Thats the thing though, I have.
If I get the glass ones he breaks them, so I got the metal ones & this one has stopped working
I don't know how a metal thermos can break0 -

Metal ones never keep the heat as well either. When I was young you used to be able to buy a small coil gadget that went into a mug (was 240V) might find one of those?
Just had a look but theya re slow too:-
