Help - Megane suspect engine mount

While driving OH's car the other day I noticed that there was a lot of movement in the gear leaver when acelerating/decelerating. This doesn't seem right to me and I am suspecting there is a problem with one of the engine mounts.
Can anyone confirm if this is likely to be the case or do all Meganes do this?

Is it in all gears or just one? If it's all gears I'd suspect that there's excessive play in a torque mount. Easy test is to give the engine a shake front to back, you shouldn't be able to move it more than a few mm.
If it's just the one gear then it may be the dog teeth on the gear are worn.0 -
Yes, its in all gears. Also, there is a rip in the air intake pipe which connects between the air filter box and the intake just above the radiator. I reckon excessive engine movement could have cause this.0

Sounds a lot like a torque mount. I've not had my head in a Megane engine bay, is it easy to see the front & rear mounts? Have you had the clutch done recently?
Oh and I'd get the air intake pipe patched up it won't be doing your engine any good letting in unfiltered air. (Gaffer tape'll do it.)0 -
No, the clutch hasnt been done - the car has done about 75,000 miles. I'll stick my head under the bonnet when I get back but I suspect its not easy to see all of the mounts as there is a lot of stuff in the way.0

Reason I asked is that the torque mounts may not have been reattached properly (seen it before).
However I'd be suprised if the mounts had deteriorated so much after 75k, even on a French car.0 -
I don't know so much. It's a similar problem on the Renault Espace. My mates one he totalled last week had it on 86k and the one he's bought also has the same problem on 96k.0
