Advice - electric windows open by themselves

Hi
I parked my Zafira at a large event car park (02) in London last Saturday.
I know my car a was locked and all the windows shut when I left the car as I checked drivers side door was locked.

On retuning all the windows where half down fortunately nothing was stolen but rain did get in all the seat where wet.

Subsequently, I have found out that if you hold the open button on the key fob for more than 7 sec second this will wind down all the electric windows.
So what happened? I can think of the following.

1 - I accidently pressed the open button on the key in my pocket as I walked away form the car.
2- some external electrical signal wound the windows down.
3 - key from another car caused this to happen
4. Thieves broke in to my car and where disturbed
4 - My car computer/electrics has a fault

Has this happened to any one else?

Any ideas? And can this function be disabled?

Thanks
Scott

Sorry I can't offer advice, but I used to have a mini that did the same thing a couple of times parked outside my house. I didn't find the cause but it was slightly unnerving to find the windows open. Also, every now and then the remote wouldn't open the car at all, but leaving it for half an hour and it worked again. I have no idea if it is related, but around the same time a new police radio mast was installed nearby (by 02 if I'm not mistaken).
  • lol my dad had a mondeo that did this and our brandnew golf does it

does your key fob open windows, just checking your not doing it by mistake

sometimes pressing the close key several times can open all windows.

or the car could be haunted.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

Heh-heh...first time my Mondeo did this I wondered what the hell had happened. It was the same pressing on the keyfob for several seconds.
  • My bosses Audi A6 used to do that. We found it to be a duff central locking switch.

there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

  • My Audi started doing this, the dealer told me it was common and they used their laptop thing to reprogramme the car so the doors lock automatically when you drive off. Apparently this is a known fix, and true to their word, the windows haven't opened themselves since.

  • Audis are notorious for having the central convenience module getting wet because of leaf/gunk filling up drain hole in the plenium chamber. I've had this and have to buy another and then have to reprogramme the thing.
