Roof Help
Hi I have had plans drawn up for a extension and I have been looking at the drawing for the roof and fancy the idea of a Vaulted ceiling. The original drawing just show a standard truss but has a Velux window on the plan and I can't see the benefit unless the ceiling is vaulted (I think this means high ceiling) The style…

Fitting an internal door, how big a gap should be left at the bottom?
As title really. Joiner has put in new framing for an internal door but I think it's a little high and there will be too big a gap at the bottom once he hangs the door. Assuming bare floorboards, in mm, how much of a gap should there be from floor to bottom of door?

We have just had a new kitchen fitted in a room with a concrete floor. The fitters were supposed to level the floor before installing it as one end is a good couple of inches lower than the other but they didn't bother and just installed the cabinets anyway! Water on top of freezer
I have a hotpoint iced diamond 'under counter' freezer about 12 years old - the fridge is separate (also iced diamond) - lately water has started to form on the top of the freezer - what could be the reason for this? It does seem to have started to damage the top plastic cover now.

How to arrange a picture wall?
Hi! I'm new to this part of the forum so please excuse me if I seem a little stupid about DIY & decorating! My engagement recently ended and I've been staying at my mum's as the house, although mine, feels as though it has a lot of memories there. A poster suggested I do small things to make the house feel like mine again…

I rather stupidly did not realise that I needed a building compliance certificate when I had my new boiler installed in 2007. I'm a little confused as to whether I should ask the engineer that fitted it to now contact Gas Safe to re-register the boiler, do I need to contact CORGI to request the certificate or do I contact…

Woodworm Prevention
I'm trying to obtain an average price for a company to come in and treat a 3 bedroom detached house to prevent woodworm. The property is fairly heavily beamed but a buildings survey has revealed no signs of woodworm. The reason for the treatment is it is far easier to get it done before we move in. The companies I have…

Garden fence
Hi all, We've got an issue with our garden fence. The owners next door want to replace the entire fence, as three panels are falling down and need fixing. We can't afford anywhere near half of the £1700 quote to do it all, and frankly, can't see why the whole fence needs replacing. Title deeds tell us nothing about…

hiding pipes under basin
Hello DIY experts. I've a basin that's basic but functional and under it an ugly tangle of pipes and a step-like raised bit running along the wall that must be there to hide some other pipes. I can't afford to have a new washbasin and washstand put in right now, but would love to be able to hide the pipes. I've seen 'sink…

Anyone any ideas about a hotpoint washing machine that has given up?
