Worktop for a cream gloss kitchen

Options
Now, some of you may suggest that this is a decision I should have made at this stage, bearing in mind the kitchen is being installed on Thursday, but I need some help!!

I am getting a gloss cream handleless kitchen, and plan to have a red glass splashback all the way around. Here is the current plan.

KitchenDesign

BUT, I haven't decided on a worktop. I was thinking black, but have been doubting my decision. The kitchen has no windows as it's in the centre of a basement flat, so I want a lighter top, but I would prefer not to get wood, as I don't really like the wood look. Plus I already have 2 different types of wood in the room (doors and floors) and don't want a third variant.

Options are:
1. sort of greyish
2. I know.. wood, but it does look nice!
3. but this may as well be black as it doesn't solve the problem

I was thinking a cappucino type colour, using casearstone (silestone) as I love the smooth look, but can't find any pictures. Big (and expensive!) decision, so any ideas welcome!! And any pictures. :)

Thanks MSE'rs!

caesarstone and this and maybe this

I think the cappucino would look great with the units, not sure if it would go with red splashback though. Maybe a light sandstone / pink quartz? Or not pink in a kitchen?

cant see any draws on the design, probably computer putting a door where draw should be. brown quartz with fleck would look nice ( marron lucient )

I can appreciate why you don't want wood. I think the cappucino would look nice.

Sill question maybe but are you going for a stainless steel oven, or black. If Black, i'd consider black worktops (I over co-ordinate things though!!).

I'm ordering my cream gloss kitchen tomorrow, with oak mix (laminate, have been put off real wood after reading a bit about them) worktops :)

I am having my cream gloss kitchen installed this week and chose a black gloss worktop. It looks lovely but scratches easily, but I guess that depends on the type of black gloss. I am going to brigten mine up with the tiles. Everything else is stainless steel (oven, hob sink)
Its really hard to find pictures of cream gloss without a wood worktop, good luck with the decision making!!

thanks for the ideas! the appliances are black, and the drawers are under the breakfast bar - so on the back or the counter which isnt obvious on that picture.

glad i am not the only one put off by wood. i am going to a granite 'yard' tomorrow, so hopefully will pick something. the kitchen designer is convinced ill end up with black in the end though!

may change my mind about the splashback instead.

kitchen being installed today, so bit nervous about it all! and definately time for a decision on the worktop.
