Water on top of freezer

I have a hotpoint iced diamond 'under counter' freezer about 12 years old - the fridge is separate (also iced diamond) - lately water has started to form on the top of the freezer - what could be the reason for this? It does seem to have started to damage the top plastic cover now.

More likely than not - condensation
the insulation wont be as good as it used to be so with the warm ambient temps there are at the moment and the cold of the freezer there will be a tendancy for condensation to form. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Probably condensation - at a guess the freezer needs defrosting and has a build up of ice near the top - that is making the surface cold, and with the hot humid weather we've had recently its started to condense water from the air - especially if circulation under the counter is slowing evaporation. Our old fridge used to do it in summer.Adventure before Dementia!0
