Gut my mid-terraced or not?
Hi, I have a two bed mid terraced. Most of the rooms have the old blue plaster and the ceilings are lumpy with wallpaper on. I am hoping for my redundancy payment this year so I thought about moving out and having the rooms and ceilings replastered and a re-wire as it has the old wiring. I paid £34,000 six years ago for…

Recommendations for where to buy my new kitchen
Hello, I want to buy a completely new kitchen. As it will be one of the most expensive purchases I have made after actually buying my house I want to make a well informed decision. It is not a massive kitchen and I do not want to spend over £3000 (so I won't be buying a handmade bespoke one!) but I do want it to be good…

Trv life expectancy
Is there an expected life for trvs, a point where it is false economy not to replace them. Or do they go on until you notice a problem? Ours are about 20 years and the central heating guy says they should be replaced - there are 9 of them. What would be the typical symptoms which would justify replacement? Thanks for any…

Burglar Alarm
We recently moved and have never had a house with a burglar alarm before, but our new one does have one. The lady who lived there before us left us a copy of the receipt for the annual service of said alarm. My question is, is this really neccessary? I think she paid around £95 to have it serviced and a new battery put in,…

Order of work?
I am planning a couple of changes to my 3 bed, 1 bath terraced house in SE London. I currently have a lean-to at the back of the house which needs to come down before it falls down.
