Just seeking some advice..... I have an ideal WRS 450 boiler. I have lncluded a pic of its details here.

Also i have included a pic of the controller located in the boiler.......

I have recently bought the house and am trying to work out if the heating system is performing properly.....
The last time i flicked the heating switch on it took an hour to heat up the rads is this normal ?
If i flick the hot water on and the heating will this slow down how quickly the rads heat up ?
I have had one corgi guy out and he said its what i can expect with systems like this.
Thanks

have you tried bleeding the radiators? they may have air trapped in them.Make £10 a day challenge March 2013 £101.24 / £240 :j
WSC 10 March - £0 / £5
Debt £17,294 - 7th March0 -
No it is not normal whatever system you use.
As above check all the rads first.
Does it heat water okay (if that is one of its functions)We all evolve - get on with it0 -
hi all
thanks for the quick responses.... i have bled all rads......... also noticed that there is clean water in all rads, so no sign up of sludge... also noticed rads get warm at top before they get warm at bottom of rad.
The water seems to heat up ok last time i checked.
the corgi told me if i wanted the rads to heat up quicker i should not put the hot water on at the same time......0 -
He is correct, the boiler output is fixed so if you put on water as well then less heat will go to the radiators. How many radiators are you heating?
If you turn up the boiler thermostat then things may heat up quicker. You could also check the speed setting on the pump.0 -
hi
I have 7 rads that require heating up... and having looked that sealed unit in the bedroom. i think the pump setting is set to between 60 and 70. Below is a pic of the sealed unit in the bedroom. There is a honeywell dial on it which i assume is the pump speed setting.

That is your hot water thermostat, nothing to do with pump speed. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hmm, never seen anything like that before! It looks like it has been leaking in the past.
The boiler output seems enough for 7 rads. Our pumps are near the boiler. Do you have one pump or two? If only one then it may be your hot water has priority so if you start heating it at the same time as the radiators then they will take ages to get hot.0 -
i will take another pic of the stuff around my boiler maybe i can find the pump and see if there are any numbers on there.
Thanks for all the responses0 -
I think our pumps have 3 speed settings on them, and if I remember right they are on the middle setting. Some boilers have a pump actually inside the casing.0
