I am planning a couple of changes to my 3 bed, 1 bath terraced house in SE London.
I currently have a lean-to at the back of the house which needs to come down before it falls down. For security purposes, I will need to replace the french doors which connect the dining room to the lean-to. This would be a good opportunity to remodel the back of my house (to improve the flow from the front door through to the kitchen and garden) and to get a new boiler. I currently have a very old boiler in the kitchen and think that a combi would suit our needs.
Then there is our bathroom (over the kitchen) ….grey bath and sink, white wc and a shower that leaks and has now caused damage to the floor boards behind the hot water tank and the kitchen ceiling below…… It all needs to be redone – and the switch to a combi would rid me of the need for the hot water tank (and the cold water tank in the loft) freeing space for a nicer bathroom.
On a practical basis, what should I do first?? I know that I need new radiators, but need I get them done at the same time as the boiler? How really mad would it be to do:
(a) boiler, then the bathroom then the building work, then radiators then kitchen Or would it be better to do:
(b) building work, boiler with radiators, then kitchen then bathroom?
(c) boiler with radiators, bathroom, then building work, then kitchen
(c) something else (constructive ideas only.....)
The current pain is that we can't use the shower and it would be money down the drain and an extra day off to get it fixed in the meantime....
Your thoughts please....... thanks in advance...
