Help selecting a ceramic hairbrush (to straighten)
Hi, I wondered if anyone could help please. My mums hair has lots of kinks in and she likes it straight however doesn't like to use straighteners often(and finds it hard to do). She saw ceramic brushes that straighten and some of the videos look impressive. I thought I had decided on one until I read the reviews on Amazon…

Accessing dental records
I recently had some dental treatment and my dentist asked me a question about my dental history that I couldn't answer. I referred them to my records but was told they have no info from before I joined the surgery. Despite giving them details of my previous dentist when I joined here they said notes don't get sent on like…

smear test
the advance in testing since I first had one done less than twenty years ago is astounding back then it was an unpleasant and cold experience with a huge metal implement but definitely worth the two minutes of discomfort to prevent whatever may happen in the future just back from the surgery and it was probably easier than…

Curly vs straight hair on women
There seems to be a great tendency in society, well at least in my perception of UK society, that it is preferable for women to have straightened hair. I first started straightening my hair in 2003 and it's a standard part of my morning routine. My hair is 80% straight naturally but due to frizz and not being in the…

Dental insurance
I had tooth sensitivity which my dentist suggested needs a root canal filling, which can't be done on the NHS - says the NHS regard keeping hold of back teeth as 'cosmetic' - she would refer me to a specialisit and it would cost £600. Yikes. She has gave me antibiotics to see if that clears it up and I am praying it does,…

Slightly chipped tooth, NHS?
I'm registered with an NHS dentist. I have fairly healthy teeth, a couple of fillings but in pretty good shape. Except for one issue. Since I was a baby, I've always had two less teeth than I should. Most people have four incisors across the bottom, then canines. I have two incisors and then canines, so I'm missing two…

orthodontic dental treatment recommendation
I have been reading a few horror stories about the wowcher/groupon 6 month smile deals. I am looking to improve my teeth by straightening them slightly (they are not too bad) and then having them whitened but guess its best to have them fixed first. I am not sure which options are available e.g. to go veneers, cosmetic…

Cheap ways to straighten frizzy hair?
Hi everybody! My hair is naturally frizzy and it looks really ugly if I don't straighten it.. on humid days I sometimes straighten my hair twice because I just can't stand to see it fly all over the place. Thing is, I'm tired of spending so much money on all sorts of conditioners. My hair just gets more "shiny" but it…

Clothes
Hi all, hopefully this is the right part of the forum to ask this. I've been made redundant and need to get a new job. I haven't been for an interview for 15 years and need help with clothes for such an occasion. Is it still the norm to wear a trouser or skirt suit? I need to go shopping as I don't have anything suitable…

Hi all, A few days ago I noticed a bit of pain in my gum when I brush the outside of my teeth; I had this before and it was just a cut which healed in a few days so took no notice of it. Skip forward to yesterday and my gum feels quite swollen and I have a nasty taste in my mouth as well as a feeling of pressure under the…
