EON - Bills is this right for a 4 bed house? any input appreciated
Hi All, I just got my shock email from EON and essentially going up from £3,340.82 per year to £5,194.14 - I've been told this is unusually high before the increase. I have a 4 bed (loft ext), 1938 house, double glazed, I don't think I have any good insulation, cooking is all electric and only gas use is heating. I have…

Eon Next Online v11, Fixed 1 Year at Apr 22 Rates
A family member is with Eon and the fixed deal ran out in Feb so are now on the capped rate. They have been emailed by Eon Next, offering a one year fix, fixed at the April 2022 capped rate for a year with no exit fees. I'm sure Martin advised it was likely the Oct cap will go up another 20% so this deal seems worth…

Feed In Tarrif
I went for a solar/battery system last year and from what I've read the historic FIT scheme ended in April 2019. Is it the case that people post April 2019, who have solar excess, will just feed the grid with free electricity?

Tariff information
I'm having a lot of issues with Scotish power I tried changing to Simplicity in 2019 for gas and electricity. Electricity was done, but for gas, Scottish power were totally incompetent. Scottish power now want to know what the Cauliflower 19 tariffs were. Yes, a big company can't get this. I know I can't get it. All…

Help, I’m lost in the system
Let’s cast our minds back to September 2021. September 10th 2021, I decided to swap my energy supplier as it was due for renewal one year to the date. I was with Peoples Energy (they were a fantastic company to deal with, such a shame things went belly up for them.) I signed up with Avro…..Surprise, surprise…… both of…

Energy Cap vs. Fixed Tariff - What should I do?
Hi Everyone, I realise this topic is much discussed, but I would like your input on my specific fixed price offer from Scottish Power. I plumbed in the figures from Scottish Power (SP) and the energy cap from April (Cap) into Excel, and it seems that their deal is actually cheaper that the cap: Cap SP E kWh 2030 1971.275 E…

Standing charges
Hi, apologies if this has been raised before but I'm new to this! I've just been in touch with my energy supplier, Shell, as my fixed tariff ends next week and I wanted to get details of the variable tariff I am being moved onto because I can't get another fixed one (for obvious reasons). My unit costs are rising, as…

EON Next - Meter Reader reading has appeared on electricity
I have smart meters which have been upgraded and give regular weekly readings, along with an end of month read. On my gas reading, I have a smart meter reading from 8 Feb, but there have never been any smart meter readings shown on my electricity. However, I have just noticed two entries on my electricity readings, dated 8…

Peoples' Energy, Utility Point and Credit Style (alleged) debt
Just got a Letter from 'Credit Style' chasing some money. Very quick history: I was with Peoples' Energy for a year and the Utility Point up until they all went bust in the Autumn. Now with EDF., When I switched from PE to UP, I got an email not long after from UP saying that the meter reading was an 'industry reading' and…

EDF slow to credit my former UP account
I switched from UP to OFM in July 2021 just before UP failed in September 2021. I had a credit with UP of £227 which according to the OFGEM/EDF website is the responsibility of EDF to pay me. I am getting the run-around from EDF to get this money, all dcumented on e-mails. Anyone else?

EDF Confusion
EDF claim that over 91% of the electricity they generate and sell in the UK comes from nuclear and renewables, so I’m confused as to why their tariffs have increased inline with suppliers who are fossil fuel based. Has anyone else questioned this and/or had an answer as to why this is?

People’s Energy to British Gas
My elderly mother was switched from people’s energy to British Gas . She was paying £80 a month to people’s energy and has received a refund of £293 which has gone directly to British Gas. Her first British Gas bill has arrived and it’s £1626 ! I know prices are rising but this seems very high ! She lives on her own in a…

Fix or not? I know it's been asked loads
I was moved to British gas from People's energy. I'm currently paying £228 a month for my DD and they are saying it's not enough. I'm going to have a deficit of about £800. I looked at EDF which with my usage worked out as a fixed rate of £380 a month and British gas have quoted me £315. Do I switch ? I use 6500kwh a…

Is there a calculation for heat loss of a room?
If you know the outside temperature and inside temperature, and the loss over a time period, is there a particular calculation you can use to see how well (or not) insulated it is?

Gas Smart Meter Balance On Display
We had smart meters installed in December. There's an activation issue with the gas meter so I had to do a manual reading which was when I noticed a balance showing on one of the screens on the display. As it's not pre-payment and we pay by direct debit, I thought this was unusual and I can't find anything about it online.…
