Help, I’m lost in the system

Let’s cast our minds back to September 2021.
September 10th 2021, I decided to swap my energy supplier as it was due for renewal one year to the date. I was with Peoples Energy (they were a fantastic company to deal with, such a shame things went belly up for them.)
I signed up with Avro…..Surprise, surprise…… both of which went bust. Peoples Energy went first and a week if not days later, Avro followed too.
What happened next was/is totally out of my control.
Months have now passed. Eagerly waiting for to whom my new supplier would be. As I was midway transfer.
I was assigned to British Gas for my electricity supply and assigned to Octopus for my gas.

I do prefer to have the same supplier for both of my utilities, sadly this isn’t the issue.

British Gas has now been converted over and completed, So no problem there.

The conversion to Octopus for my gas supply however is yet to be completed 4 months on. I have been in touch with Octopus. Only to be told it’s in the hands of the administrators. My concern is that the Administrators won’t have a history to look through. Avro never really got up and running. I’m worried the Administrators have over looked the fact that I was going to be a customer of theirs. Months have passed…… with no account information or Bills to pay. I really don’t want to be clobbered with a massive Bill from my new supplier.

I  was in credit with Peoples Energy and yet to receive monies after converting over.

Is anyone else going through the same?

Who do I get in touch with ? I just want to pay my bills and this is causing anxieties beyond belief.

Would it help you to feel more in control to record meter readings at least monthly and calculate approximately what your bill should be so you can put that aside into a savings account? If you aren't confident on the calculation I am sure this board can help.  That won't help with getting back your credit, but might with the fear of a large bill.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

  • Thank you theoretica, I have logged month by month meter readings for both. Sadly I’m still waiting for my Octopus account to become live. Untill the administrators have done their job. I’m at a loss. Great advice with reference saving for the bill.

Have you checked the link in Gerry1's post to see who the national database shows as holding your account ?
  • Yes I have molerat, the information is correct. The issue is really about the fact they can’t supply me with a bill until administration is done. Which has taken months upon months. I can’t contact administrators….. Octopus are powerless to finalise any figure from my previous supplier as they don’t have any to finalise. I’m in a catch 22, hopefully this will get resolved soon.

... hopefully this will get resolved soon.
It should be soon now, you just have the misfortune to be in the last group to be sorted out.
They seem to be close to done with all the larger groups of people now so I'll be surprised if it takes much longer.
Your first bill should be no surprise though, your tariff is known and you have your meter readings I assume?
If you are in any way unsure about this just post the details and we can help you with the calculation.
