Eon Next Online v11, Fixed 1 Year at Apr 22 Rates

A family member is with Eon and the fixed deal ran out in Feb so are now on the capped rate. They have been emailed by Eon Next, offering a one year fix, fixed at the April 2022 capped rate for a year with no exit fees.
I'm sure Martin advised it was likely the Oct cap will go up another 20% so this deal seems worth taking. Even if a miracle happened and the rates dropped in October, there are no exit fees.
The only downside would be moving on to the Apr 2022 capped rates, 5 weeks early. Eon say the tariff may be withdrawn at any time, but perhaps its worth waiting a week or 2?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have the same experience, just received email inviting me to fix Online v11, same as the SVR but fixed for a year. last week EON.Next were offering Online V10 slightly lower than the April cap, and several forumites reported successfully phoning EON and arranging for that rate to start on1 April. For me it would have been £60pa less, but I've missed that opportunity. Maybe I will try phoning them.1

Next 2 Year v18So 2 yrs ( no exit) atElectricity Unit price 27.86p per kWh Standing charge 61.83p per day
or £4pm more over the upcoming cap
Which I went for given we are heavy users / uncertain times

I got the same email tonight and with the expected 20% rise in October, I think it’s worth it and signed up. I didn’t think to call and ask for it to start 1st April but even paying the increased prices for 1 month/5 weeks now, it will save money from October-Feb overall if I am on the fixed rate if prices go up as predicted. Here’s hoping anyway!0

Sadly, after the latest news from the East, if this continues, I fear 20% is going to be a good minimum.

I had the email about Next Online V11, but the email also states "You'll need to agree to have a smart meter fitted, pay by Direct Debit and manage your account online to sign up to this deal."
I don't want a smart meter - can they make me have one? It's nice to be important.....but it's more important to be nice0 -
My dad's with EON and I told him I'd keep an eye out for any half-decent deals for him. Might have to pop over to his tomorrow and have a look at this.0

There can be no expectation of what will happen in October. It is much too early to make a judgement. Before wholesale prices shot up again this week they were declining to the extent that it was looking hopeful that not only would there be some better fixes around by the start of April, but that also the cap might actually fall in October. Of-course that's all been overtaken by the events of the past few days and I fully accept that if these prices persist or even go higher then we can indeed expect another rise in October. But the situation might change very quickly. It is all speculation at this stage.1

What is the issue with having a smart meter installed? I see no reason not to do it. It will help me track and control my usage without the need to send the readings every now and then.1
