Can you get free/cheap boiler in exchange of immersion only?
I'm looking into this for my parents, both are over sixty. They have no central heating at all and just an immersion for hot water. The only heating they have comes from a gas fire downstairs and a little electric heater upstairs. Does anyone know whether they would be able to get a free/cheap boiler to replace it and…

Hi Over the past 2 months my 4kwh solar system has been giving readings of 1-1.3kwh even in full direct sunshine and the panels have just been generating 4-6 kwh for past 2 months. Is this normal for time of year? Any help appreciated. Yoshii

Water Efficient Washing Machine.
Hello. I just needed some advice please. Does anyone know which washing machine uses the least amount of water to operate? I have been looking online for a while but it doesn't seem to be very clear and I've been told that the energy efficiency of a machine only takes into account the amount of electricity used, it does…

Scottish Power tariffs?
I'm currently paying £90 monthly on Scottish Power's Online Fixed Price Energy November 2015. According to the quotes I get on their site I could switch to Fixed Price Energy September 2017 Online and pay £85.21 monthly including boiler repair cover, or choose Online Fixed Price Energy December 2015 at £69.55 monthly.…

Radiator Reflectors
Anyone got opinion on the effectiveness of these things? I see that Radflek currently have a 25% discount on 3, 5 and 8 sheet packs at £21/£33/£49 respectively. Would a sheet of MDF covered in kitchen foil do the job just just as well?

Hi SP has been lowering it's tariffs over the last couple of months, only by slight amounts but this tariff has a lower standing charge, saving me 13 pence per day (dual fuel) nearly £50 a year.

switch delayed to Ovo due to them rejected by the market?
Hi :-) Trying to switch to Ovo, along with having an ombudsman case active regarding E-on. With it being the winter quarter, I've been desperate to switch asap across to Ovo. Already the switch date had been put back, due to Eon not producing the right bill, and now, after seeing on my Ovo account a message about that old…

The less energy you use the more you pay year on year
I can't be the only one to notice that as we become more energy efficient and/or use less energy due to warmer Winter's whilst bills may appear to go down in the short term, over time the energy companies find ways to keep their income level up. So gone are the energy only tariffs which benefit the frugal or those away…

£153 a month, gas and electric in a 3 bed terraced house?
Hi everyone, I live in a 3 bed end terrace. It's 100 years old, one large lounge/diner, one kitchen, one bathroom, three bedrooms. I installed extra insulation in the loft last year, and that saved us about a third on the amount of gas we're using. We've got a seven year old combi boiler which supplies us with heating and…

Gas Showers
Hi all. My Electricity consumption is about 50% above average, and my gas consumption is abnormally low (about 15% of expected levels). One of the major factors in this is that i never use baths, but take long showers, and my shower is entirely electric. To add to this, my Electricity PPKWh is over twice that of the gas…

£15,000 for gas central heating or install Dimplex Quantum?
So I live 75 metres from the gas mains and following a ludicrous quote from the local supplier, an Independent Gas Transporter company has quoted me £11,000 for extending the mains to my house. With boiler/radiators installation costs for central heating I reckon then I'm probably looking at around £15K. For the mains to…

E.On refunded us twice
Hi. We were in credit with E.On when we moved house and requested that the balance be returned to us. What actually happened was that they took the next month's direct debit as usual and thus owed us even more. I rang up to complain and was told that the payment had been authorised and would be returned to us within 5days,…
