Plenty of places. Ring your energy company and ask.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Really? Just called both of my suppliers and neither offer free light bulbs and don't have any idea where they could be obtained free of charge.
Checked out uSwitch and this is what they sayFree energy saving light bulbs
If you're loooking for free energy saving light bubls expect to be disappointed. Unfortunately while you may be offered discounted and subsidised bulbs and despite the fact that they're getting cheaper all the time, we're yet to come across any free energy saving light bulbs

Please share with us the 'plenty of places' you are aware of that give away light bulbs
(except if you strike lucky on freecycle)0 -
Yeah I'm struggling to find any anywhere, few years back they seemed to be readily available a few years back but seems to be no more!0

Looks like they've all decided you should buy your own light bulbs. Plenty cheap LEDs on ebay, amazon etc.
* I've got a box full of 50w/ 30w/ 20w gu10s that no one wants, can't even give them away0 -
After my extensive efforts i have come to the conclusion that you dont get nothing for free these days!:rotfl:0

You don't get anything for free either. Shame you actually have to pay for your own light bulbs. Not sure what the world is coming to.0 -
The reason why energy companies were handing out free energy bulbs a while back is because they were required to meet the CERT carbon emissions targets, set by the government, by 2011.
The free lightbulbs were a loophole which allowed them to meet the targets and it became a bit of a scandle at the time as some companies just relied on that to meet the set targets.
To make it worse, some companies just sent all the bulbs out just before the deadline.
There were a few headlines at the time:

After the targets were "met" the free scheme stopped.0 -
The bulbs aren't free, or rather, were never free. People paid for them in their energy bills.
Just like you pay for free cavity wall insulation and free boilers for people. That's why your energy bill is so high, despite you turning the thermostat down each year0 -
When they first came out, Npower gave customers half a dozen (I think it was), but they were very low output and virtually useless.0
