Choosing supplier for new gas supply
Hello all I'm after some advice on choosing a supplier for my new gas supply. There is a pipe up to the house, and Wales & West have tested it to check that it is live. I now need to find a supplier, but all of the info on here (and the web itself) seems to be geared up for swapping to a new one, not starting from fresh.…

Ovo the top....
I say dear Peeps! Well helllooooo. How the devil are we? One was wondering if anyone could give this dapper chap a bit of advice? One switched from Ovo to Scottish Power in July. Since then, Ovo have continued to draw money out of ones account. Following a phone call last month, one was told that the Direct Debit would be…

Solar immersion
Hi, I've looked though 101 threads discussing this but most either speculatively discuss options or talk of their calculations based on initial installations. Has anyone been running an immersun (or similar) for a couple of year; enough to have a reasoned calculation of their real world savings?

Being chased
Hi All I have a property in Scotland(I mention that, in case Scottish law is different) In Feb 2013 I changed my duel fuel supplier from British Gas(Scottish Gas)To EDF. I have now been threatened by BG/SG for £164 from that changeover time!!! I was paying them via direct debit. I have asked several times, for them to send…

Hive price for non BG customers
My Wife and I have been considering Hive for a while now. Looking at the site shows 2 prices, one for BG customers and one for non BG customers which is £50 more. Are there any incentives (i.e. lower prices/ discount codes) for non BG customers at all? Would a BG customer need to order installation at their billing…

Meters installed the wrong way round
Hello folks, I moved out of a house in July 2013 and after a little while, it seems that an issue has been found my NPower who was the energy supplier between November 2009 and July 2013. Essentially, some new meters were installed at the house in 2009 and they got the day/night meters the wrong way round. After a bit of…

Ovo No Warm Home Discount .
Be aware when thinking of using or changing to Ovo that they do not take part in the Warm Home Discount Scheme . This means for those that qualify for the £140 electricity discount you will not be able to get it .You need to factor this in to any comparison / tariffs .

Changing from pre payment to credit
We have moved into a property that has a pre payment metre for both gas and electric. We enquired about having them changed but was told it would cost £100 to change EACH metre!!! Are there any companies that don't charge? If so what's the best please going forward. Thanks

Using the MSE cheap energy club I've just switched from npower to Sainsburys. I've had a letter through from Sainsburys to say the switch is in progress but I've now had 3 emails from npower saying i need to call them to talk about finalising my account so i can ensure the transfer goes smoothly. I initially dismissed this…

Money Saving Energy Club Delays
I applied to switch the energy supply for the house I own on 29 September. The MSE site says "switch in progress" but I still haven't heard anything from either MSE or the new supplier. In the guidance it says expect something in the post within a week. Is anyone else finding responses slow? Please vote. :(

Gas or solid fuel?
I'm sure this has been covered before but I couldn't find a thread. Is solid fuel cheaper than gas per KW? We're taking out an old inefficient gas fire, for this winter we'll just have an open fire then replace in the spring with a multi fuel stove. Will I get more KW heat in the room from solid fuel? We are not in a…

Paying two suppliers for same dates?
Has anyone else had this problem? I switched from SP to ovo on 16th Sept. I provided my readings to SP on 10th due to not being able to do it on the 15th and gave the same readings to ovo on the same day. Everything fine, the switch went through, last bill comes through and SP actually gave me a refund as I was in credit.…

cheap energy club - hides best deals??
Just read the article on BBC's news site titled Switching sites hiding best energy deals, claims rival does the cheap energy club do this - miss out the best deals to get more commission? I used the site last week to compare and switch, and my memory seems to think that after using the MSE site, when I eventually then went…

Electricity recalculated
I am ashamed to say that I have never checked my meter reading when I received a bill. I am now in arrears with EON. 3 months ago I went on to paperless bills and when they emailed me the first bill I checked my meter. They estimated that I should pay £352.00. I sent in my meter reading and they recalculated the bill which…

Moved in but had no bill
Hi, A friend of mine moved into a house a few months a go but has never had a bill. I am sure he hasn't actually contacted the electric or gas supplier however the service is still being provided and nobody has ever been to read either meter? What should he do, come clean and speak to a provider? Thanks.

BBC: Comparison websites hide a third of deals
This is outrageous if true!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-29665221 I had no idea that "Do you want to switch now" really means "do you only want to see tariffs that give us commission". I just tried to test it on Moneysupermarket (the owners of MSE?) but they are down for maintenance. So I tried it on compare the…
