Choosing supplier for new gas supply

Hello all
I'm after some advice on choosing a supplier for my new gas supply. There is a pipe up to the house, and Wales & West have tested it to check that it is live. I now need to find a supplier, but all of the info on here (and the web itself) seems to be geared up for swapping to a new one, not starting from fresh.
My electricity is supplied by SSE - do I just start off with gas from them too until I get some ideas of usage and then switch? Or does anyone have a better suggestion?

You can ring up any supplier and ask for a free meter to be installed. Do searches on tariffs then choose who you want.

I guess what I meant to ask was "who is best to go with" in terms of deals/pricing etc0
