This means for those that qualify for the £140 electricity discount you will not be able to get it .You need to factor this in to any comparison / tariffs .

A good thing, too. Pity more suppliers do not or can not opt out. It is unfair - why should those who already receive extra provision need a double-dip for even more? Why should other customers who do not qualify pay for it? As with many such scams only those who do not need it in the first place receive it.0

I speak to vulnerable people all day. There are hundreds of thousands that are not on Pension Credit that get this payment. They may be working families or unemployed single people. These often do not get all the extra help you mention and are very grateful for the help they receive.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -
I switched to OVO not knowing that they are not part of the scheme. When I applied after receiving a letter from the Warm Home Discount scheme that we qualify, we found out that because we switched to OVO we will not get this discount.
In my opinion this is unfair, after all this is a government scheme so all providers should be a part of it.
I for one have written to my MP (not that that will do any good) but I encourage all OVO customers that may qualify to do the same.
As it is I will switch again once my year is up as the £140 is more than I will have saved by switching.0 -

That's interesting.
The original scheme was for four years, through the winters 2011/12 to 2014/15, thus it would be about to end soon.
So I just did some looking about.
On October 2nd, the Department of Energy and Climate Change proposed an extension to March 2016.
This was in a consultation period until 13th November, and neither the submissions nor the results have yet been published.
So although that info about Ovo's future participation is encouraging, it may be a bit early for a formal declaration.

The information came from the Faq's page on the OVO website so lets hope they know what they are doing0
