Switched - Need to Call Old Supplier?
Options
Using the MSE cheap energy club I've just switched from npower to Sainsburys. I've had a letter through from Sainsburys to say the switch is in progress but I've now had 3 emails from npower saying i need to call them to talk about finalising my account so i can ensure the transfer goes smoothly.
I initially dismissed this as nothing more than a desperate tactic to get me on the phone so they can try and change my mind (i don't remember having to do this when i switched before).
Is this a legit request to help the switch go through or am i right to be cynical?
Thanks in advance.

If you are happy that you do not have a large debt with NPower , which might give them a reason to block the switch, then just ignore their e-mails. It is usual for the 'old' supplier to send out 'this must be a mistake etc' type e-mails in my experierence. When you get your final bill, do not forget to check that the closing and opening reads are the same. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hi Oligopoly
When switching the supplier, you shouldn't need to contact your old supplier. Your new supplier should do this for you (as seems to be the case here) and will also be responsible for providing it with your Closing meter read. Using this meter read, your current supplier should produce a final bill and send this through to you.
I hope this helps.0 -
